What is the purpose of this role?

We are currently looking for a dedicated individual to join our team in Milton Keynes. As a Stores assistant, you will work with the Stores Manager to ensure that spares and equipment are being maintained appropriately and accurately. Attention to detail is essential in this role. The Stores Assistant will have the opportunity to liaise with vendors and suppliers to search for best available spares.

As part of this role you will work on a shift pattern basis of either 6am - 2pm or 10am - 6pm

What does this role involve?

  • Accurately organise/ reconcile stock counts and maintain and manage stock collection of any parts as and when required, including monthly rolling stock checks
  • Ensure Material Safety Data Sheets are provided for all chemical substances and materials potentially hazardous to health, and which fall under COSHH.
  • Ensure all stock requiring certifications are received and filed
  • Manage deliveries on site
  • Conduct obsolescence surveys and report to line manager
  • Keep the stores in a good state of cleanliness and tidiness at all times
  • Willingness to step up into Store's Manager role in their absence.

What are we looking for?

  • Good knowledge of systems
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel
  • Manual handling

  • Proven experience in a Stock/ Inventory Control role or related experience in a fast-paced environment (desirable)
  • Full driving license

The waste treatment division is separating out from Amey and creating a new Stand-alone business entity in the UK. You will be joining us at such an exciting time and help shape the future of the new business.

Within Waste Treatment, we use state-of-the-art technology to make the most of rubbish and reduce the amount being sent to landfill. From recycling materials; composting; and mechanical biological treatment to energy from waste (EfW) facilities creating better environments.

Our three treatment facilities in Milton Keynes, North Yorkshire and the Isle of Wight will between them, create enough energy to power the equivalent of 60,000 homes when they are all fully operational. Both Milton Keynes and North Yorkshire bring together three different technologies on one site - mechanical treatment, anaerobic digestion and EfW. This allows us to extract any organic and recyclable materials (such as plastic and metals) which have been placed in with general, non-recyclable waste before using the rest to create energy. In Cambridgeshire we offer a range of treatment capabilities from our 400-acre Waterbeach Waste Management Park, providing services as part of partnerships with local authorities and directly for businesses and residents.
