St Albans is a unique English Cathedral City with a colourful history which can be seen in the Roman remains and variety of beautiful architecture, heritage sites and conservation areas. Set within green belt, off the M25, A1M and M1 the District includes a cathedral, historic city centre and charming villages. Our refurbished offices are in the city centre near to the station (London St Pancras 20 minutes), shops and restaurants. In short it is a great place to live and work.

The purpose of this role is to assist with the Council’s asset management function within Estates Services. You will support the Asset Manager on operational and community property asset use and optimisation, devolution of assets to bodies such as local Parish Councils, transfer of assets and community asset matters, as well as repurposing and regeneration projects. You will also support on procuring portfolio-wide Red Book valuations and Reinstatement Cost Assessments.

Leading and delivering on specific priority projects and business objectives within the asset management function, you will act in a support capacity for priority projects in the wider service, where required.

In addition to the asset management aspects of the role (approx. 80%), you will provide a general estates surveying function (approximately 20%), in conjunction with the other surveyors and officers within Estate Services; thus providing a flexible resource pool in order to respond to demands and provide high levels of customer service.

You will be a RICS qualified surveyor with asset management experience within a local authority setting and will need to demonstrate a track record of providing effective expert support, advice and input to a range of cases. You will also have experience of financial management, as well as procurement and contract management.

We offer a competitive package which also includes up to 29.5 days annual leave, pension scheme, reimbursement of professional fees, access to parking, training and development opportunities, flexible working options (including homeworking), leisure and travel discounts and a number of other benefits.
