An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated applicant to work for the Decision Science team, which sits within the wider Chief Operating & Risk Science Office at Lloyds Banking Group. Decision Science itself is a collaborative team that thrives in a changing and fast paced environment. This role offers considerable scope for personal development, whilst building an in-depth knowledge of Commercial & Retail Banking and its clients.


What you'll be doing...


We'd welcome you to lead and develop a team, initially responsible for the development, maintenance and validation of probability of default models for our SME and Business Banking portfolios, but with further opportunities to lead other Commercial and Retail modelling teams in the future. The role is key to the improvement of Commercial and Retail Banking's risk management capabilities, to ensure internal and regulatory / CRD IV compliance and fair outcomes for customers. This is a meaningful position because the outputs of the models are used throughout Commercial and Retail Banking for a range of risk management activities.


Location: Ideally Edinburgh, but can be flexible.


Accountabilities

  • Deliver significant modelling projects and wider initiatives across department, leading and empowering team to deliver against agreed plans.
  • Apply project and programme leadership skills, prioritising resources to meet our goals.
  • Lead the maintenance and monitoring of a suite of credit models (e.g. PD, LGD, and EAD) and / or decision models, ensuring models are in governance and seeking continuous improvement.
  • Support Decision Science's leadership team in implementing the strategic vision for Decision Science.
  • Develop excellent relationships and act as strategic partner and advisor to the business.
  • Use high level negotiation, communication and influencing skills to gain consensus and approval.
  • Own and lead in the generation and maintenance of robust documentation to satisfy the bank's internal and external approval bodies.
  • Show dedication to leading change, simplifying and improving the wider business.
  • Act as a role model for Group values and behaviours and has a customer and risk centric mind-set.
  • Contribute to learning, development of professional expertise and to development of others.
  • Deputise for Head of Modelling when required.


What we're looking for...


Are you passionate about statistical modelling and looking to make a difference? if yes, we value the following...

  • We're looking for a candidate with a numerical or statistical qualification to a minimum of degree level or equivalent or be qualified by experience. You'll be skilled in the design, development and validation of models, have strong written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of statistical modelling techniques and SAS/SQL or other data mining skills.
  • Experienced in design, development and validation of credit risk models.
  • Practical application of statistical modelling techniques and technical methods.
  • Strong programme and project management skills and track record of delivering complex projects.
  • Strong risk leadership skills and track record of managing risk.
  • Good judgement and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • High level negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of the wider industry, current and future regulation and economic and political factors affecting the Group.
  • Personal resilience and awareness of signs of resilience loss in team members and what actions can be taken.
  • Experience of leading others, fostering team development and motivation.
