Job description

This role provides the opportunity to work at the centre of the DfT, with the wider family of transport public bodies as well as other Government Departments (OGDs). You will develop an understanding of the workings across the Department. Your role will be key to maintaining planning and performance governance standards and accountability across the wider DfT family.
 

Responsibilities

Include (but are not limited to);

• Supporting a new style DfT ‘Performance Reporting and Risk Team’ within the central Governance Division.

• Supporting the divisional Senior Leadership Team to proactively monitor and manage performance and risk management across DfT and its public bodies.

• Supporting, devising, and implementing ideas to continuously improve our services to business areas, Ministers, ExCo and the Governance Assurance Risk Audit Committee (GARAC).

• Working closely with IT colleagues to ensure that our Power BI based Risk & Performance management system is fit for purpose and that data is up to date.

• Supporting the delivering of key DfT Corporate reporting tools, including the Outcome Delivery Plan, Management Assurance and Risk and Performance Guidance, Annual Report of Accounts, as well as regular performance and risk reporting.

About you

To be successful in this role you will be an engaging leader experienced in working across corporate programmes and you will have knowledge in performance reporting.

You will have a high attention to detail, capable of influencing and being a trusted advisor to our stakeholders, so the ability to build relationships is key to this position.

You will display excellent communication skills, drafting skills and confidence to deliver complex and challenging information in a user friendly and understandable way.

Sift & Interview Dates

Should a large number of applications be received, an initial sift may be conducted using the lead behaviour, Seeing the Big Picture. Candidates who pass the initial sift may be progressed to a full sift, or progressed straight to assessment/interview.

The sift is due to take place week commencing 29th November.

Interviews are due to take place week commencing 6th December.

This interview could be conducted via a video interview, details of which will be provided to you should you be selected for interview.

We will try to meet the dates set out in the advert. There may be occasions when these dates will change. You will be provided with sufficient notice of the confirmed dates.

The selection process will be designed specifically for the role. As a result, your assessment could include:
• an interview and a technical exercise (eg presentation, written, or coding exercise etc)
