We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Junior Buyer to join our International Team, the role is working for the Ireland market and so fortnightly travel to Dublin would be required. Reporting into the Buying Manager this person will be responsible for our growing International category. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is keen to work in a fast-paced environment and will work well in a team.

The role requires an organised individual, capable of managing complex information and supporting the team in all areas of activity, including the setting up and maintenance of products and promotions in our systems as well as liaising with our UK Head Office and local stores.

While the role sits within in Dublin and reports to the Buying Manager the flow of work and the “internal customer” is very much the teams in our Ireland stores. Key relationships will be with the Head Office teams in London, local store teams and suppliers.

What you’ll be doing:

 

  • Buying responsibility for our Ireland business across varying categories including; Books, News and Magazines and Food & Drink
  • Work closely with landlords: creating sales documents for regular engagement meetings as well as product and strategy presentations.
  • Select and develop profitable new ranges
  • Generating new ideas on how to grow YOY Sales, margin and supplier income
  • Building up strong relationships with suppliers to deliver effective and profitable plans
  • Working closely with the supply base to ensure in store availability is maintained.
  • Able to deliver meaningful reports and cut through the information / detail in order to get to the real issue
  • Keeping abreast of market trends and competitor activity in a fast-paced environment, to help identify new opportunities as well as changes to our existing offering
  • Work closely with our UK based International Buyers
  • Working closely with other areas of the business including Operations, Business Development, Marketing and Finance team

What we are looking for:

  • Previous experience within a Retail/FMCG background is an essential requirement
  • Confident and approachable
  • Enthusiastic and excited about the product
  • Ability to work cross functionally
  • Good understanding of business (i.e. buying and stock)
  • Uses creative thought process – on product, promotions, displays, deals etc
  • Excellent numerical and analysis capability
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proven track record of delivering strong levels of supplier income
  • Strong interpersonal skills – must be approachable, friendly and professional
