Inclusive Salary range from £44,516 to £48,447 per year inclusive of market supplement (plus car allowance) plus up to 18.5% employer pension contribution

You will take on the full range of Building Surveying duties relating to the repair, maintenance, improvement and extension of the Council's properties and land, ensuring the council fulfils its statutory and contractual repair obligations, and properties are maintained to agreed standards.

Working with our Housing Contractor, Morgan Sindall Property Services, you will take responsibility for the operational supervision and delivery of the Council’s repairs, maintenance projects and voids works. You will agree works orders, complete quality control inspections, design and specification, and also project management in relation to works and improvement projects completed by the contractor.  You will also be the departmental lead on dealing with tenant requests for improvements and providing supervision and support to junior staff.

You must be educated to degree level or with a professional/technical qualification or substantial experience at a senior level within this area of work.  Considerable surveying experience, including project and budget management, is essential for this post.  Ideally, you should be a member of RICS/CIOB or similar, or be working towards becoming so.  You will also be expected to participate in the Council’s emergency out of hours repairs rota.

Knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act CDM Regulations, JCT suite of contracts, planning and building control applications and related issues, is essential for this post.
