Job Details

At Lloyds Banking Group, we're motivated by a clear purpose - to Help Britain prosper. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses and communities.

Insurance & Wealth provides critical services to the Group's customers, supporting them with their Insurance and Wealth needs. We're responsible for delivering exceptional service to our Life, Pensions and Investments (LP&I), General Insurance (GI) and Wealth customers.

Within I&W our focus is our customers and colleagues. We're passionate about making a difference whilst keeping the customer at the heart of everything we do. We're focused on continuing to improve customer experience, simplifying our business and making I&W a great place to work for our colleagues.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Investments team at Scottish Widows as an investment writer. You'll produce a variety of investment-related content and communications to support the development and promotion of Scottish Widows pension products and our Responsible Investment approach. You'll also be involved in supporting the customer investment strategy by working with Propositions, Distribution and Marketing to understand, prioritise and initiate wider activities relating to the fund range.

This role involves the creation of a variety of investment content. It relies on a good understanding of investment strategies and markets, our pension funds, key promotional messages, our Responsible Investment approach and emerging investment themes.

Our team is predominately based in Edinburgh, however we're flexible on location as there is no requirement to work from one of our key hubs. We hope to get together for the odd team meeting in the near future but are anticipating this role can be done working from home.

What you'll be doing:

  • Deliver investment-themed articles and market updates for our adviser and consumer websites and the media; investment content to support marketing campaigns; reports to support proposition and asset allocation changes

  • Work with Propositions and Distribution and, where appropriate, external partners to develop investment content to support the ongoing promotion of our funds. Feed into projects delivering investment change activity as the communications representative. This requires a clear articulation of investment strategy, promotional messages and their alignment to our funds/products

  • Support our ambition to be market leader in Responsible Investment through regular communications, working closely with our Responsible Investment Team

  • Ensure clear processes are in place to take and prioritise input from partners, working as required with other teams in Investments to consider and co-ordinate response

  • Operate within a defined risk framework, ensuring materials meet customer needs and embracing the principles of TCF and Conduct Risk

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of partners across Scottish Widows to ensure that investment materials and priorities are in line with business needs

  • Through reading, attending meetings and talking to SMEs in the Investments team and at our external fund manager partners, keep up-to-date with market developments and Scottish Widows' business strategy, and convert this knowledge into ideas and activities that support our distribution strategy

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Experience in financial services/asset management essential
  • Engaging writing skills and ability to generate ideas essential

  • Knowledge of Adviser, Employer and Customer channels

  • Background in investment writing, financial copy writing or financial journalism preferable

So, what can we offer you in return?

Whatever your aspiration, you can also expect excellent benefits, personal development, and a career that's enriching and full of opportunity. You'll also receive a competitive package in addition to your base salary of £58,000* subject to location which includes:

  • 4% Flexible Benefit of base salary (which you can simply take the cash-sum with salary)

  • Discretionary variable bonus

  • Generous Employer Pension contribution

  • 30 days holiday entitlement plus bank holiday

  • Private Medical Insurance and access to Share plan

In return for your expertise, we'll help you perform at your best today, so you can fulfil all your potential in the future.
