What is Innovation at Lloyds Banking Group?

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Innovation team at Lloyds Banking Group. Lloyds is the UK's leading digital franchise, with over 13 million active online customers across our three main brands. The purpose of our team is to Help Britain Prosper by delivering innovation that creates a better financial future for our customers. We do this by:

  • Understanding emerging customer, technology and business model trends

  • Designing and testing new business models that respond to those trends

  • Augmenting our business model innovation through partnerships and emerging technologies

As a team, we want to create a future where customers choose Lloyds because we regularly launch new products and services that make their financial lives better. This is a unique chance to join a team that celebrates curiosity, diversity and value creation!

What will I be responsible for?

The role involves finding opportunities and delivering capabilities to enable Lloyds Banking Group to deliver its innovation strategy. The team handles a dynamic portfolio of innovation opportunities providing an unusual level of exposure to a wide-range of projects in the course of a year.

The Innovation Manager works as part of a squad to:

  • Build our understanding of future financial needs through various forms of research.

  • Shape new business model opportunities aligned with our strategy using our innovation methodology.

  • Use experimentation to test identified opportunities in an agile way.

Aligned to our Emerging Technology squad, the Innovation Manager will lead projects to scan for key technologies and evaluate emerging relevance to LBG, with a particular focus on those that unlock new revenue streams or transform our business model. For those with relevant use cases we seek to mobilise experiments to help test these. The role will involve working with external technology partners and internal experts across all seniority.

What do we need to see from applicants?

We like people who come from diverse backgrounds who bring new ways of thinking to the team. The role is fairly specific to our industry though, so to be successful in the role you'll need to demonstrate the following in your CV;

  • Prior experience in a similar innovation role at a mid to senior level.

  • Financial services industry awareness.

  • "I'll need to be able to see they could demonstrate their prior use of Emerging Technology to develop new customer propositions in some shape or form" , quote from the hiring manager.

  • An awareness of how innovation could affect business and customer strategy.

What can I expect in Return?

We're dedicated to giving you opportunities and support to develop you both professionally and personally.

As a new colleague to the team, you'll join us on our journey to build a 21st century bank that reflects modern Britain and craft an inclusive culture where all colleagues feel encouraged and valued. We're a passionate and committed team, all innovation specialists!

We're committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve, and to building an inclusive environment where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit. We support the principles of agile working and equal opportunity and are happy to consider flexible working arrangements.

Together we'll make it possible!

Company

We’re creating an organisation that attracts, retains and develops the best talent in the industry, and one that openly embraces diversity too. But more than that – we want to be a great place to work. We invest in our people, offering the best training and coaching, and by encouraging them to contribute to our leading corporate and social responsibility practices. We offer flexible working hours and days, under our Work Options scheme. This means that you can have a challenging and rewarding career, and still have an ideal work/life balance.

Flexible working is at the heart of our strategy. We’re re-imagining where, when, and how our people work, with new approaches designed to meet the ever-changing needs of customers and colleagues. These include increasing our use of remote-working tools and technology, as well as placing less reliance on a 9-to-5 mindset. For many of our office-based colleagues, we work in hybrid ways which involves spending at least two days per week or 40% of their time at one of our office sites.
