Job description

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) are looking for a diligent Administrative Support Officer to join their Maritime Governance, Improvement & Assurance Team.

This is an important role where you will provide administrative support to the MCA’s strategic management of maritime obligations in the UK’s Overseas Territories through the Agency's Conflict Stability and Security Fund projects.

The role involves the collating and initial drafting of supporting documentation for the Overseas Territories Programme. You will also play a key role in the monitoring of finances and reporting on projects.

This is a fixed term appointment until 31st March 2023.
 

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include:

• Monitoring of finance and preparation of monthly financial reports.
• Initial collating and drafting of quarterly reports.
• Scoping and initial drafting of supporting documentation for Overseas Territories projects.

When normal business resumes, this role may involve significant amount of UK and overseas travel, including occasional weekends and unsocial hours. You must be willing to spend regular periods away from home if required due to the nature and length of overseas monitoring visits.

You must have a sufficient level of physical fitness with no underlying medical conditions that would prevent you taking part in long haul, extended travel overseas or working in areas of poor access and uneven footing.

About you

You will be highly organised with the versatility to organise others. You are proactive using your own initiative and are also ready to react quickly.

You will have exceptional communication skills and can express yourself confidently and concisely both verbally and in writing. You will be able to tailor your communication method to suit your audience to ensure that messages are delivered in a clear and effective manner.

We are looking for someone with highly developed drafting skills which allows you to draft quality reports and other supporting documents.

We are looking for someone who has an understanding of financial monitoring and experience of preparing financial reports and management of departmental budgets. You will have excellent attention to detail and take pride in producing work to a high standard.
