We are looking for a Paralegal to provide paralegal support to the Legal Clients & Markets and Projects team (LCM&P). The LCM&P team is part of Laing O'Rourke's in-house Legal team, specialising in non-contentious construction.

Based primarily in our Dartford head office, you will form part of an experienced and diverse Legal team, supporting the delivery of a high-quality, integrated legal service for the Group and gaining unrivalled exposure to some of the most interesting and high-profile projects in the construction industry.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Development and ownership of processes and document managementassociatedwithconfidentiality agreements, collateral warranties, parent company guarantees and other commercial and ancillary contract documents.
  • Undertaking initial contract reviews and associated governance under appropriate supervision.
  • Responsibility for the proper execution of contracts across the Group.
  • Undertaking legal research, keeping up to date on construction industry developments and reporting back to the LCM&P team as appropriate.
  • Assisting with the preparation of sub-contracts and consultant appointments.
  • Providing responses to pre-qualification questionnaires and other legal queries relating to tender submissions.
  • Management of standard from documents and Group precedents.

You will have the opportunity to work with other parts of the Legal team including the Resilience team (focusing on contentious construction), Corporate and Compliance, Employment and the Group Company Secretarial team, which will include:

  • Responding to small monetary claims.
  • Conducting document reviews and preparing bundles.
  • Drafting witness statements.
  • Preparing board papers and minutes.
  • Management of Group IP portfolio.
  • Assist with company records and filing of corporate documents.

Future career progression is also a possibility for the right candidate.

What skills and experience are we looking for?

  • Academic legal qualifications above A level e.g. law degree, CPE, Diploma. Law, legal executive training.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage a varied workload and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Organised, reliable, committed and hard working with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • A 'can do' attitude and an eagerness to take on responsibility.
  • Ability to build relationships and work closely with key internal stakeholders in a professional manner, including members of the Group Executive.
  • Proficient use of Word and ability to understand other office systems.
  • Previous experience working as a paralegal, ideally specialising in construction and/or projects, is preferred although not an absolute requirement.

The position is primarily based in Dartford with the option of working remotely if appropriate.
