Our Submarines Business

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.

Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.

Senior Project Professional

Would you like to influence the reporting and how it used within Engineering? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Project Professional at our site in Barrow-In-Furness.

As a Senior Project Professional, you will be providing metrics, reporting and analysis capability to Engineering and Project Management teams. The team also undertakes analysis which is a blend of continuous improvement and route cause analysis.

This role will provide you with opportunity to identify and implement improvements and changes as well as guide business leaders in complex decision making.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Project Professional will involve:

Bringing a capability to enhance the analysis and analytics capability of the team

Responsibility for a strategic type analysis, looking more at medium and long term

Interpreting and performing analysis from high level business questions using multiple data sets and tools to refine and answer complex questions.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

MS Excel Skills. To a high level.

Pivot tables, visualisation and formulas.

Data analysis skills.

Experience of working with large data sets

Beneficial

SQL skills

SAP BI skills

Project Management knowledge

Engineering lifecycle knowledge

What we are looking for in you:

You should have strong communication skills; which includes, with the ability to present data to a range of stakeholders in meetings. You will need to be proficient in requirements gathering, identifying what the customer wants and what is possible to provide, while managing expectations and influencing stakeholders.
