This is a part time fixed term post until 31 August 2022, pending the outcome of the Support Staff Review and would potentially suit a Science graduate looking to build a career in teaching or gain valuable classroom experience before applying for a PGCE or Schools Direct course. Key tasks are to work alongside our existing three technicians to prepare practical lessons and provide continued support to the Science department.

Being adaptable and willing to take on all challenges is essential, as is an interest in all areas of Science. Technical expertise is preferred as a large part of the role involves setting up the equipment and providing the necessary support with the GCSE and A Level 'Required Practical' activities. You would also be flexible, mindful of Health and Safety issues and possess excellent interpersonal skills. A degree of computer literacy is required. In return the school will be able to offer you a supportive and friendly work environment.

Our laboratories are very well equipped with teaching resources and practical equipment. This includes two brand new labs in our recently completed Digital Learning Centre. We currently have large numbers of students studying A Level Sciences; many of whom go onto to study science-based undergraduate courses.

The post is for 18.5 hours per week; between the hours of 8am-4pm; with the potential for flexibility. The role is term time only and is paid on Kent Range 4 GBP18,310 per annum (pro-rata 0.419FTE). There will be a Support Staff Review carried out this year which this role will fall under the aegis of.
