Job Title: Personal Care Assistant
Reporting to: Employer
Location: Pendeford Wolverhampton WV8
Rate of Pay: GBP9.50 per hour
Nature of the job role: We are looking to recruit someone that is very active and loves the outdoors to provide personal care and social stimulation to an 18-year-old male living in the Pendeford area of Wolverhampton during school holidays.
My client has a diagnosis of severe Learning Difficulties, Global Developmental Delay and Epilepsy which impacts on my clients' abilities and understanding of the world around him and how he interprets and perceives situations and scenarios.
My client is unable to communicate verbally but can use Makaton & Signs and picture exchange communication system to communicate his needs, wishes and preferences.
Main Duties:
Personal duties: Assisting with personal care when required - continence care, monitoring skin integrity. Administering medication when required - Experience using Buccal Midazolam. Providing drinks & snacks while out with my client in the community. Full supervision & support to always ensure my clients safety.
Social Duties: Social stimulation - My client loves to go on long walks as he loves nature. My client has a passion for Trains and enjoys going on Train rides.
Hours of work: 20 hours a week during School holidays - Times and days to be discussed at interview.
Qualifications:
Makaton Training Essential.
Previous Care Experience Essential
Previous Experience of working with individuals with Severe Learning Disabilities. Must be Medication Trained - Buccal Midazolam essential.
Previous experience of working with individuals who suffer Epilepsy & Seizures.
Skills & Experience:
Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.
Only applicants who can deliver a high level of care will be considered. You must be reliable, trustworthy and show an aptitude for this type of work with a willingness to show some flexibility in the hours that you work. Experience of working with people with complex care needs essential.
