AWE is looking for a Commercial Manager to provide support to the business in the delivery of its customer contracts. Responsible for all contract aspects, you’ll manage AWE’s contracts throughout their lifecycle using established AWE processes. It takes a special sort of person to work at AWE. Location - Reading / Basingstoke Area
Salary: £TBC (dependent on experience)

Successful Candidates will be responsible for:
- Conducting assessments on the viability of internal and external contract opportunities
- Monitoring compliance with processes to measure operational efficacy, reporting the outcomes and recommend any management interventions
- Maintaining working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Developing contract bids, costing and pricing
- Identify and quantify the actual and potential contract impact of key business performance risks, compliance risks, issues and opportunities on the contract baseline throughout the contract lifecycle
- Adherence to processes, governance, tools and templates for commercial activities
- Creation of, applying configuration controls to, and performance monitoring of AWE’s contracts
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision of clear guidance and expertise to the business on contractual requirements
- Champion a contract management and compliance mind-set rigour within the AWE Finance and Business Management team and also across AWE to drive value creation and contractual compliance
- Ensuring bids comply with regulatory, governance and legislative matters
- Identify and escalate threats to the Management and Operations (M&O) and Non-M&O Contracts
- Application of lifecycle contract management processes
- Develop and maintain commercial performance tools and processes to measure delivery against contracts
Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:
- Experience in a contracts, systems engineering or financial role with the ability to understand and apply relevant pricing methods to minimise risk and maximise value for money
- Significant experience in a Government contracting environment
- Experience in leading contractual performance management on commercial contracts of varying scales and complexities
- Highly developed communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Effective relationship management at all levels with key internal and external customers and stakeholders
- Good facilitation, presentation, leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills and effectiveness to manage priorities in a multi task role delivering to challenging timescales
- Ability to make sound decisions and to challenge
- Well-developed skills in the use of a variety of computerised business software to support business needs
- Ability to identify, use and monitor the key controls to manage performance and ensure the effective monitoring and application of controls and exception reporting
- Experience of stakeholder management and relationship
