This role is currently temporary until the end of June 2022.

The aim of the Reconnect project is to help to address the increased effects of Covid 19 on the mental health of people in our communities and encourage engagement in activities that will help them to move forward in their lives again.

Recent data shows that 69% of adults are reporting feeling somewhat or very worried about the effect that Covid 19 is having on their life, listing stress, anxiety and boredom as the main factors. In addition young adults and women who experienced worse mental health pre-pandemic, have been hit the hardest.

By encouraging participation in activities, supporting their health and mental health, helping to increase confidence, self-esteem and skills, and reducing fear the Reconnect team will really make a difference to the participants across North Lincolnshire.

The aims are to progress participants through counselling, coaching, fun activities and skills, to coach and help them create a clear plan for their future, resulting in employment, where possible.

Overall Purpose of Job

Work as part of a team to support over 300 participants from our communities, focusing on those with mental health issues, to develop the confidence and skills to move forward and make a real difference in their wellbeing and employment status.

Achieve targets by supporting participants to attain results as directed by the Reconnect contract.

Use specialist knowledge and skills, including coaching, to deliver a consistent, high quality range of supportive interventions, based on individuals' needs. Promote wellbeing and employability in order to help clients to develop the necessary skills and overcome the barriers that prevent progression in their personal lives, and towards employment, where appropriate.

Work with our in-house employment agency, Ongo Recruitment, to determine the types of jobs available in the local economy and prepare participants to be in a position to apply for them.

Contribute towards the achievement of Ongo Communities strategic and operational targets and overall company aims.

Main Responsibilities

1. Engage people with mental health problems and establish trusting, collaborative relationships.

2. Establish relationships and work on a one to one basis, coaching individuals to help remove personal barriers, grow in confidence and gain new skills through a range of interventions that promote wellbeing and recovery, undertaking regular review meetings and maintain a written individual plan for each client.

3. Assess clients' support needs; implementing and adjusting individual plans as necessary to support each client's desired outcomes.

4. Develop and deliver a range of practical services to meet clients' needs including career guidance, job searching, CV preparation, interview skills, individual coping techniques or work coaching.

5. Work with the wider Ongo Communities team to facilitate group sessions on Job skills, Roles and Responsibilities, Teamwork Communication Customer Service, Health and Safety, CV building, Interview preparation, Job search.

6. Provide ongoing coaching support to employed clients to ensure sustainment of targeted employment outcomes, including access specific training to support their future including Stepping Stones and specific career related qualifications.

7. Take part in adventure days with the wider team, using the Ongo minibus, including visits to local tourist venues, sports activities, craft activities and employer visits.

8. Source and maintain up to date information on employment, labour market issues and local services, sharing with team members to inform client service.

9. Assist in the collation and input of monthly claims ready for checking and submission by the Project Coordinator.

10. Source and maintain accurate evidence documents and up to date records of activity and outcomes in line with service requirements, and meet funders' requirements to enable claims to be made for outcomes and results.

11. Work with partner organisations and other professionals to provide support to each customer.

12. Work as part of the team to advertise the service, including social media marketing, using case studies and representing the company at events as appropriate (including occasional evenings and weekends).

13. To participate in personal support and supervision, undertake personal development training as appropriate to the post.

14. Undertake other duties and responsibilities appropriate to the grading of the post as considered appropriate.

Skills, Ability & Knowledge

* A relevant coaching/IAG qualification

* Experience of providing life skills that, in turn, link to employment support services.

* Understanding of the employment needs and difficulties of people who experience mental health problems and of supporting individuals to obtain and sustain employment.

* An understanding of the needs of young people who may have no experience of employment or training and limited educational achievements.

* The ability to make a comprehensive assessment of an individual's situation and needs

* To develop, implement and review risk management plans and devise support plans and activities to meet these needs.

* The ability to facilitate group training sessions to supports the needs of individuals, focusing on life skills.

* Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (face to face, by telephone)

* Engagement and marketing skills to ensure targets are achieved, including willingness to take part in engagement activities (including occasional evening and weekends).

* Organisational ability to handle multiple priorities, act quickly and decisively, work to changing deadlines and pay attention to detail

* A good team player.

* Good general education including numeracy, literacy and writing skills

* Ability to use a range of IT packages including word processing, spreadsheets, data bases, PowerPoint, Outlook, email and the internet

* A strong commitment towards Equality and Diversity principles

* Willing to work flexibly in response client's needs, including occasional out- of-office hours including evenings and weekends where necessary.

* Full, clean driving licence and the ability to transport yourself across North Lincolnshire

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience

* Experience within a training or community learning environment

* PTTLS qualification
