Who are Lloyds Banking Group?

Where does the role sit and what will I develop?
Do you want to help millions of people and protect them from falling victim to fraudulent activity? Are you someone who wants to have some fun while making a difference? Well, come join us as a Java Engineer, as we stand side by side in the fight against fraud.

The role sits within Payment, Fraud and Financial Crime (PFFC), part of our Group Transformation division. Your role will focus on supporting the development and maintenance of anti-fraud software based mainly using Java.

What would I focus on as a Java Engineer?
As a Java Engineer you'll take a leading role in the design and delivery of our Springboot Microservices.

You will work closely with our Product Owners and Business Analysts to create the best outcomes for our 30 million customers.

You will be empowered to design the solutions that face into the constantly evolving needs of our customers and collaborate with others to make them a reality.

Specific responsibilities might include things such as;

  • To be the technical specialist embedded in one of our fraud prevention feature teams

  • Collaborate with our Product Owners and Business Analysts to build solutions that help our customers

  • Work alongside other highly skilled engineers to develop efficient services

  • Support, mentor and coach junior engineers to be the best version of themselves

What do we need to see from applicants?

We like people who come from diverse backgrounds that can bring new and challenging ways of thinking to the team. As a minimum to be considered we'll need to see evidence of the following in your CV's;

  • Strong Java development capabilities at enterprise scale

  • Experience with Springboot and microservice ecosystems

  • Experience working with Kafka messaging and event based processing

  • Understanding of agile methodologies and Continuous Integration strategies

  • Ability to implement test automation

  • Understanding of dev-sec-ops and pipeline automation with Jenkins

If Java is your main skill but are missing 1-2 points from the bottom of the list above then please still apply as we'd like to consider your application.

What will you get in return?

On top of our team ethos we're genuine about both equal opportunity and our colleagues representing the communities we serve - developing and advancing the best in our people through personal development, training, qualifications and upskilling on the job.

The sheer scale and size of Lloyds brings great career development opportunities and we are set to continue to grow our Engineering functions across the group for many years to come.

Together we'll make it possible…

Company

We’re creating an organisation that attracts, retains and develops the best talent in the industry, and one that openly embraces diversity too. But more than that – we want to be a great place to work. We invest in our people, offering the best training and coaching, and by encouraging them to contribute to our leading corporate and social responsibility practices. We offer flexible working hours and days, under our Work Options scheme. This means that you can have a challenging and rewarding career, and still have an ideal work/life balance.

Flexible working is at the heart of our strategy. We’re re-imagining where, when, and how our people work, with new approaches designed to meet the ever-changing needs of customers and colleagues. These include increasing our use of remote-working tools and technology, as well as placing less reliance on a 9-to-5 mindset. For many of our office-based colleagues, we work in hybrid ways which involves spending at least two days per week or 40% of their time at one of our office sites.
