Our Naval Ships business

We design and manufacture a range of naval ships and state of the art combat systems and equipment, giving customers the capability to fulfil extensive naval operations. Risk Manager

Would you like to play a key role implementing and maintaining the risk and opportunities plan within our Naval Ships business? We currently have a vacancy for a Risk Manager at our site in Scotstoun, Glasgow.

The BAE Systems Naval Ships business has an exciting range of large scale, high value contracts currently underway across its sites in Glasgow, Portsmouth and Bristol. The Type 26 programme where construction already under way on first 3 ships at our site in Glasgow to deliver state of the art frigates to the Royal Navy Customer. The Type 26 will replace the UK's Type 23 frigates, with the first set to enter service in the 2020s and the last remaining in service beyond the middle of the century. We also have exciting opportunities across our Global Combat Ship platform through the Canada Surface Combatant and Hunter Class programmes.

As a Risk Manager, you will be responsible for managing risk and opportunities on the programme. You will be implementing and maintaining the risk and opportunities management plan. This will include ownership of the risk register and leading on the analysis of the risks and opportunities to provide key management information to appropriately manage our programmes.

As an experienced Risk Manager, you will provide subject matter expertise to the Programme Management community, promoting the adoption of best practice and coach the wider stakeholder network on effective risk and opportunity management.

 

Your main responsibilities as a Risk Manager will involve:

 

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining the risk and opportunities management plan and processes
  • Monitor its adherence, identifying conflicts and issues and resolve where possible
  • Managing and ensuring that the risk and opportunities register is updated
  • Preparing and representing the team at customer meetings concerning, risk management, contract assumptions, exclusions and dependencies
  • Influencing senior stakeholders to ensure risk and opportunity management is given appropriate prioritisation
  • Challenge mitigation and realisation action to drive the risk and opportunity process
  • Champion best practice risk and opportunity management processes

 

Your skills and qualifications:

 

  • You will be a Risk Manager with experience in a complex / high value projects
  • Risk qualified and appropriate toolset experience (ARM, PRA)
  • Ability to write and review risk management plans and processes
  • Ability to present management information to senior stakeholders, influencing where necessary

 

What we're looking for in you:

You will have excellent communication skills as you will be working with senior stakeholders including senior management team and customer. You will have good influencing and negotiation skills and will be self-motivated and have the ability to work under pressure and meet tight and changing deadlines.

 

Location: Scotstoun, Glasgow

Salary: £45,000-£55,000
