Job Details

Join our Energy, Resources and Sustainability team in London as a Senior Analyst within the Specialised and Asset Finance Division of the Commodities and Global Markets Group. This role is primarily focused on supporting our Zero Emission Mobility business but offers the opportunity to work across all the sectors that the team covers.

Our Energy, Resources and Sustainability team focusses on using our balance sheet to provide clients with tailored structured asset financing solutions. Our expertise encompasses mobility solutions (including electric vehicles, charging infrastructure and scalable hydrogen technologies), energy assets (including smart meters, batteries and renewable generation), mining equipment (including for mine owners, contract miners, plant rental companies and opportunistic asset trading), and sustainable waste solutions (including full spectrum of waste streams from organics and wastewater, through to plastics and e-waste).

This is an exciting opportunity for you to be part of a fast-growing area within Specialised Asset Finance and contribute to the energy transition and support the decarbonisation goals of our clients. The role gives considerable scope for you to develop your career and achieve personal growth as the business grows while also contributing to the sustainability goals that are central to much of what Macquarie now does.

Joining as a Senior Analyst, you will work closely with members of the team in the structuring and delivery of complex transactions primarily focused on the Zero Emission Mobility sector within the EMEA region. The team is currently heavily involved in financing electric and hydrogen buses, and electric light commercial vehicles but you could be involved in a range of related areas, such as charging infrastructure or hydrogen heavy goods vehicles.

You will work closely with the transaction directors to assess and analyse new transaction opportunities, assist with the preparation of term sheets and pitch decks, and build financial models. You will support the execution of new transactions by performing credit analysis and preparing internal credit papers, managing internal approval workstreams, reviewing due diligence materials and financing documents, and supporting the handover of the transaction to the account management team. You will also have responsibility for aspects of ongoing portfolio management including counterparty monitoring and assessing ad hoc borrower requests.

To be successful for this role, you will have between 2-4 years of prior relevant experience in credit, lending or investing, ideally with a structured asset finance or project finance focus. You will have sound credit analysis and financial modelling skills, preferably developed within a banking environment, and the ability to problem solve and develop creative and innovative solutions. We value candidates who have or are in the process of obtaining post-graduate qualifications with a focus on accounting / financial analysis (ACCA, CFA or equivalent), although we are open to candidates with an intention to commence further studies in the near future.

As a global bank headquartered in Sydney, Australia, with offices across the globe, Macquarie provides the future opportunity to transfer overseas and/or to pursue different roles within the bank. We encourage all employees to own their own career and take advantage of the many options to develop personally and in work.

Working in our team requires entrepreneurial spirit, ambition, strong analytical and interpersonal skills, and the ability to learn new skills quickly in a fast-paced and exciting work environment. If this sounds exciting, please apply now.

Working at Macquarie

We believe in providing a positive environment for all our staff that is innovative and inspiring. For our female staff, Macquarie’s senior leaders are actively involved in increasing the representation of females in management positions.  In June 2014, we launched a mentoring programme for females, with the following two objectives:

  • Address female retention rates at Senior Manager level and improve our diverse pipeline of talent;
  • Engage female Senior Managers by providing tools and support around their personal development;

The programme pairs up Senior Managers with Directors, who meet on a monthly basis, and are supported by active group sessions (bi-monthly) with an external facilitator.

We select some of the brightest minds to help us in solving complex challenges for our clients.  We recognise that recruiting talent from varied backgrounds is essential to improving our understanding of the marketplace, and enhancing creativity and problem-solving capabilities in our businesses.
