Batch processing (or Scheduling) is the way to automate jobs that are crucial to the successful operation of the business. This can be anything that the business may require, from restarting software applications (or servers), to initiating money transfers and customer account updates throughout the day

We predominantly support two software applications; TWS (IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler) and CA7. These are globally recognised products and lead the way in their field, enabling tens of thousands of scheduled transactions to occur each and every day. These software applications are designed to track all batch scripts, monitoring successful completion and alerting on failure.

You'll be responsible for ensuring our batch applications are working as expected, assisting new business projects with installations, fixing faults on servers which aren't processing batch correctly and to install the software on new servers, and to ultimately upgrade the platform.
In general terms your role would be to manage and assist in leading the provision of Technology Services supporting all LBGs systems and services, meeting the needs of the wider group and enabling LBG to be the best bank for customers.

Your accountabilities will include;

  • Provide scheduling toolset knowledge for supported applications across Group supported platforms.

  • Install, develop and maintain scheduling software according to business plans and to agreed standards and service level requirements.

  • Work with platform specialists to ensure that Group platform standards are adhered to, and to ensure resilience.

  • Undertake the planning, implementation and documentation of project tasks.

  • Provide technical advice and support in the creation of solution documents.

  • Provide ongoing technical support and analysis for the production and/or development environments and deal effectively with technical problems when they occur.

  • Provide technical support as part of a production service support rota, as required.

  • Work with colleagues and users on various areas of the life-cycle of technical projects, producing documentation to required standards.

  • Liaise with software vendors to in pursuit of problem investigation and resolution, and in providing solutions for our customers.

  • Ensure that software vendor information and recommendations are actively communicated within the team.

  • Contribute in technical evaluations and make recommendations on specific items of systems software as required.

  • Attend and provide assistance in communicating information at technical forums.

About you;

You'll need to have worked extensively on TWS for Z/OS (Mainframe) either in the past, or presently, and ideally have detailed knowledge and experience of the 9.x versions of the product. An understanding and experience of previous versions, as well as the TDWC software product, would be advantageous!
