Our Submarines Business

 

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

 

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.

 

Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.

Security Co-ordinator

 

Would you like an opportunity to join our newly formed Security Governance Team? We currently have an opportunity for you to join as a Security Co-ordinator at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

 

The Security Governance Team is newly formed & their main goal is to offer Security Assurance along with taking a well-rounded look & supporting the regulatory bodies with regular auditing. The Security team have two main objectives; protect BAE Systems and its people.

 

This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to join a newly formed team, that you can really take ownership & have an opportunity to help make affective changes as the team expands & matures. You will gain exposure to state-of-the-art technology which will help the department with continuous business development.

 

BAE will support you in your career development & will ensure that training packages are in place along with formal Security Qualifications. This will aid to progression to more advanced roles within the team

 

Your main responsibilities as a Security Co-ordinator will involve:

 

As a Security Co-ordinator, you will work with a wide range of stakeholders, these include; the wider Security function, including the Fire & Resilience team along with the Independent Nuclear Assurance Department. Externally, you will be working with the Defence Nuclear Security Regulator, Group Security, along with ListX Auditors.

 

Your responsibilities will be to coordinate and carry out security tasks based on relevant policies, standards, procedures and best practices of the assigned workstream. As well as providing regular reports on security activities to inform decision making at more senior levels.

 

Your role will be supporting the security culture by raising security awareness among employees in the local area (i.e. through security inductions) and modelling behaviours that demonstrate BAE Systems values.

 

You will be supporting and coordinating the security governance audits from internal & external regulatory bodies and supporting with the security government reporting Metrix including quality & assurance.

 

You will be supporting with new technologies and business practices to ensure continuous improvement and continuously monitoring and reviewing of security actions and outcomes.

 

 

Your skills and qualifications:

 

* Have extensive Knowledge / Exposure to SAP

 

* Organisational skills

 

* Ability to works effectively under pressure

 

* Stakeholder relationship building & communication skills

 

* SharePoint / computer literate / MS office experience

 

* Report writing / data management skills

 

* Janus AC2000 exp - desirable

 

* An understanding of current security working practices Security Process Instructions & JSP 628 - desirable
