As Discovery Inc’s portfolio continues to grow – around the world and across platforms – the Global Technology & Operations team is building media technology and IT systems that meet the world class standard for which Discovery is known.

GT&O builds, implements, and maintains the business systems and technology that are critical for delivering Discovery’s products, while articulating the long-term technology strategy that will enable Discovery’s growing pay-tv, digital terrestrial, free-to air and online services to reach more audiences on more platforms. From Amsterdam to Singapore and from satellite and broadcast operations to SAP, we are driving Discovery forward on the leading edge of technology.

Responsibilities
 

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the playout chains and live events for Eurosport and Nordic channels as well as supporting the base band portion of our 175+ Linear Discovery Cloud based channels across EMEA. Eurosport is currently in a new technology transformation for all countries in Europe based on on-prem and cloud architecture.

The London and Paris teams manage the engineering and support of two playout centres and all markets in Europe for Eurosport.

The Production Support Engineer is part of the Broadcast engineering team providing engineering and level 1 support for production, playout, MAM and Post-Prod platforms. This role is based in Chiswick Park, London working on a 24/7 shift pattern.

The ideal candidate will be an organised and skilled Production Support Engineer, who represents the very best of our Broadcasting Profession.

Qualifications
 

• Strong understanding of the broadcast chain
• Offers outstanding troubleshooting skills
• Demonstrates the ability to fault find from first principles.
• Excels in a high pressure and time critical broadcast production environment
• Extensive Broadcast technical background (IP video 2110, AES 67, NMOS, video and audio
• formats and codec…)
• Good understanding of IT technologies and the associated challenge (network, virtualization, storage, cloud services, security…)
• Capacity to work in a constantly changing environmen
• Strong team member with self-motivation and consistent customer service
