We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Transcomms Operations Team as an Application Support Engineer.

Responsible for supporting the Communications generated by the Customer Management System which underpins sales, service and fulfilment requests for Sky's customers, this is an excellent opportunity you to develop and share your knowledge and experience in a fast-paced collaborative team.

What you'll do:

  • The role will cover the day-to-day operations and maintenance ensuring all support functions are performed to Sky's outstanding standards.
  • Work in a team environment, supporting critical Production platforms.
  • Lead fault resolution of incidents, taking critical issues from monitoring systems and colleagues within the business (in and out of hours).
  • Ensure all maintenance procedures, software updates and upgrade activities are adhered to according to the specified Sky procedures and change practices.
  • Deliver innovative technical solutions that will meet the business requirements of our partners - this will entail analysing, developing, testing and deploying the appropriate solution through the full development lifecycle.
  • Have the opportunity to gain skills in all the areas that make up the overall platform, which comprises: In-house developed software, vendor products & third party services.

What you'll bring:

  • Ability to understand sophisticated solutions and architecture.
  • Comfortable with problem solving and resolve root cause working with development, support, infrastructure and operations teams as applicable and comfortable talking their language.
  • Ability to multi-task under challenging and unexpected circumstances!
  • Proficiency with SQL to run queries on enterprise grade database systems, eg Oracle.
  • Experience of continuous integration build tool - Jenkins
  • Experience with some of the following: Elasticsearch, Kibana, GitLab, Jenkins, AppDynamics, OpsView, Dynatrace etc.
  • A background in technology, ideally software development within Java
  • Superb communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive, positive attitude to deliver beyond customers' expectations.
  • Have a strong passion to learn and develop new skills that will help further your career!
