Job Description

Primary role purpose:

The AAM segment is a new domain for Aviation Business Unit (ABU) and has been identified as a key growth area for the company.  This newly created role will lead this line-of-business (LoB), developing & operating the business as a start up with overall accountability for driving the yearly revenue and achieving the longer range goals for growing the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Innovation & market growth:

  • Develop & operate the commercial AAM business as a start up with a clear vision, with its own resources but also leveraging capacity across the organisation including the engineering, operations and product teams to execute against the strategy.
  • Define the Go To Market (GTM) approach for AAM, identifying the right distribution partners, becoming a more attractive proposition to work with than our competitors.
  • Create revenue generating & profitable AAM business line, maximising revenue capture resulting in meeting or exceeding all revenue targets and significant market share of end users.
  • Lead a dedicated team who have a deep understanding of market but leverage the identified partners for GTM.

 Business operations:

  • Own the revenue targets for the business and contribute to the yearly budget and long-range business activities.
  • Work with external value-added resellers and manufacturers to build the ecosystem of partners necessary to deliver the business.
  • Periodically report out on progress to the Exec level.

 Product Policy:

Provide a clear product policy approach, defining the relevant building blocks to position our connectivity solution within the competitor landscape. 

Define and market a differentiated product offering that does not exist on the market. 

Regulatory:

  • Understand and leverage all AAM related regulatory topics using the specialists within the team to position the Inmarsat offer in full alignment with new aviation regulations.
  • Influence key regulatory and standards bodies to position our services as the industry leading AAM command and control option. 

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • An entrepreneurial mindset and proven successful track record in a start-up environment/role.
  • A proven leader - demonstrating presence and energy; an ability to build strong and powerful relationships, internally and externally.
  • Strategic thinker who can define and articulate a clear vision and execute against it.     
  • Ability to respond effectively to business opportunities within a changing environment - being self-motivated, resourceful, focused on output and making things happen. 
  • Demonstrable commercial experience and knowledge of working effectively with strategic partners.
  • The ability to position products and services in the market.
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering results at pace in a collaborative leadership environment.
  • Strong analytical mindset and skills.
  • Strong people management experience: proven ability to mentor and lead teams to exceed their objectives.
  • Ideally from a strategy or marketing background.
