As a Senior Sustainability Manager, you will be at the heart of accelerating and integrating our Sustainability ambitions into our Supply Chain. You will provide the thought leadership to shape development of our Supply Chain Sustainability Strategy so that BAE Systems is best placed to meet Customer, Investor & Employee Environment, Social & Governance expectations now and into the future.
This newly created role has a direct impact on the global BAE Systems Business; as such, it can be based at any of our UK sites with a flexible working arrangement.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Substantiality Manager will involve:
- Develop the Global Supply Chain Sustainability Strategy, Roadmap, Policy, Governance and Capability framework for either the Environment or Social Disciplines.Develop the Supply Chain Sustainability Performance Metrics for monitoring, reporting & causal analysis for either the Environment or Social Disciplines.Develop the framework for Supply Chain Sustainability Risk Assessment and Assurance for either the Environment or Social Disciplines.Develop the Sustainable Procurement capability across BAE Systems for either Environment or Social DisciplinesDevelop and lead various strategic, collaborative, cross-Business & Function, Sustainability Projects, Initiatives and Engagements to deliver specific aspects of the Group wide corporate Sustainability agenda.Act as the interface between the Group Sustainability and Procurement Functions and Business Sectors to align on joint objectives and strategy execution, share knowledge and mitigate risk for either the Environment or Social disciplines.Act as the interface with the Chief Technology Office for future Scope 3 product development activity required to meet the corporate ESG objectives.Act as the Supply Chain Sustainability (ESG) expert in interfacing with external Senior Government, Industry Bodies & other Regulatory Officials for either the Environment or Social Disciplines.Represent BAE Systems on initiatives with senior external Professional & Industry bodies on supply chain sustainability related initiatives.Lead production of Supply Chain Sustainability inputs to corporate reports for either Environment or Social Discipline.For Environment Discipline: Development of the Scope 3 (Supply chain) Net Zero Roadmap, Supply Chain Emissions Data Standard and Emissions data collection and reporting.For Social: Development of a Supply Chain Diversity and Advocacy Program.
- Degree qualified or proven relevant experienceThought Leadership with the ability to motivate, inspire and innovate.Commercially astute with excellent negotiation and persuasive skillsExcellent stakeholder management, communication, reporting and influencing skills.Ability to influence and report at senior levels within and external to the organisation.
- Broad knowledge of Sustainability best practice from external sources, networks and other companies.Deep understanding of Sustainability processes, and how these fit into the wider organisation's processes
- Procurement or Supply Chain qualification (MCIPS or equivalent)Project Management (APM or equivalent) MSc in either Sustainability or Data and Analytics
