This role combines learning and practical on the job training. At the end of it all, you'll have a level 3 qualification in Business Administration. You’ll be fully supported to meet the learning requirements of the qualification.

The apprenticeship will be delivered by Lifetime Training Group who were nominated as the top training provider in 2021 by Ratemyapprenticeship.co.uk.

Job description

The Internal Communications Officer is responsible for supporting the day to day delivery of internal corporate communications so that colleagues are informed about and understand DVSA’s strategic direction, policies and programmes.

The internal communications team are trusted advisors working in partnership with directors, corporate senior leaders and colleagues in communications to engage staff in delivering DVSA’s goals and objectives, while supporting organisational and cultural change.

This role supports the Internal Communications editorial team on the delivery of internal communications to DVSA’s staff. DVSA has c5,000 employees, around 80% of which are frontline staff geographically dispersed across the country. The internal communications team is responsible for the internal channels needed to reach this large, diverse workforce. These internal channels include DVSA’s intranet, communications targeted at line managers, and a weekly all staff bulletin.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Organising the production of, and help draft, DVSA’s weekly newsletter ‘In the news’, ensuring content is produced to the style guide and follows the correct sign off procedures

• Assisting with writing, editing and publishing articles for the intranet

• Sourcing and creating graphics for communication channels

• Assisting with DVSA internal events and conferences, both online and face to face

• Assisting with the development of Yammer, our internal social media

• Supporting the Deputy Head of Communication in the management of the communication team budget

About You

To thrive in this role, you will have excellent written and spoken communication skills, with good attention to detail allowing you to support colleagues with creative and accurate messages.

You have the willingness to offer advice and suggestions in a constructive manner helping to create positive results.

You are organised which allows you to effectively manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.

We are seeking an individual who can pick up new skills with ease, being able to organise your time effectively and balance your work and studies.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must:

• Be aged 18 or over
• Must hold a level 2 (GCSE or equivalent grade C/4 or above) in English and be willing to study towards a level 2 in Maths as part of the apprentice programme if you don't already hold this
• Have the right work in the UK
• Not be in full-time education
• Not be in receipt of funding for other learning programmes
• Have valid and eligible residency status and be resident in the UK for 3 years before the start of the apprenticeship

If you currently hold or are working towards a similar qualification of the same level or higher, then you will not be eligible to apply for this vacancy. In order to be eligible for our apprenticeship vacancy, any qualifications previously held or currently being worked towards must differ in content so that this apprenticeship provides substantial new skills.

This role is offered at £20,900.80 for the first 12 months. Following this your salary will increase to £26,126.
