At Lloyds Banking Group, during an exciting time of transformation within both the Risk function and Insurance & Wealth (I&W), an opportunity has arisen within the Insurance & Wealth Financial Risk Oversight Team.

Working as a valued member of the team, you'll apply critical thinking and technical knowledge to assist the business meet its strategic and financial objectives.


Although the primary focus is on the division's financial risk activities, consideration will be given to all risk types, working collaboratively across IWR to provide value-adding comprehensive insight and support. Areas of primary focus include entity capital management and optimisation, ALM, liquidity and shareholder investments. You'll be leading independent oversight and constructive challenge of the I&W Capital, Market and Funding & Liquidity Risk Management Categories, including design and operational effectiveness of risk & controls and policy compliance assessments, Risk Appetite, Reconciliation, oversight of Group and Insurance Finance Material Events, as well as driving the further embedding of One RCSA and conducting Maturity Assessments.


This is a role with engagement across the wider Risk Community, I&W Finance, Group Finance, and the opportunity to work holistically across the I&W Risk teams.


So, what skills are we looking for?

  • Qualified accountant/ actuary
  • Detailed understanding of the Risk Management Framework and One RCSA
  • A motivated self-starter, who is resilient and able to prioritise and multi-task across various activities, and as part of a small team
  • Excellent relationship management and influencing skills to challenge robustly but constructively; confidence to propose pragmatic solutions to mitigate risks
  • Strong self-awareness with the desire to go above and beyond; has real drive and determination to achieve
  • Ability to effectively communicate sophisticated issues; collaborate closely with multiple I&W functions; build positive relationships across I&W and the Finance Community
  • Role models the Lloyds Banking Group values and behaviours and encourages this across IWR
  • Detailed understanding of UK insurance and related regulation, with deep understanding of PRA and Solvency II regulation
  • Knowledge of all I&W products, including associated risks and mitigation techniques
  • Proven understanding of oversight processes underpinning the identification measurement, and management of financial, insurance risk and other key risk types.
  • Innovative approach, with the ability to analyse trends internally and externally
  • Ability to manage complexity, ambiguity and change with a capacity to work flexibly


The preferred way of working for this role is a hybrid approach, i.e., some time spent working from home as well as time in the office to collaborate with colleagues and optimise learning and development opportunities.
