Macquarie Asset Management Real Estate is a global investor and manager of real estate assets. The team consists of approximately 230 high performing and motivated employees across circa 20 cities globally. The business manages +US$25 billion of assets, across two distinct investment strategies - core / core plus; and opportunistic. While we always take a pragmatic approach to investing, we are currently focused on sectors that we believe are supported by structural tailwinds (including  logistics/industrial, office and data centers).

Macquarie Asset Management Real Estate is seeking an emerging leader in the real estate sector to become the lead transaction officer for the Real Estate Core / Core plus business in the United Kingdom & Ireland.. Macquarie Asset Management currently has a +€460 mln portfolio in the London, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Dublin and a significant amount of equity dedicated specifically to the region through several mandates and pan-European funds.

You will be the MAM Real Estate Core / Core+ representative in the market, leading growth in the region by sourcing and executing on opportunities to significantly grow assets under management. You will be collaborating and contributing as part of the broader Western European Real Estate team.

Your responsibilities will require you to:

Transaction Management

  • engage the market to source attractive investment opportunities covering different asset classes such as offices and logistics
  • lead and sponsor opportunities through the transaction processes including
    • sourcing – engage with broker relationships and other market participants to identify attractive opportunities
    • underwriting – comprehensive returns analysis to assess the attractiveness of opportunities, comparing against requirements of available capital sources
    • business planning – formulate innovate business plan approaches to new investments together with the regional asset manager
    • structuring – work with fund management and debt teams to structure deals to optimise returns and meet the requirements of capital sources
    • investment committee approvals – draft approval papers, co-ordinate input from specialist teams, present to the committee
    • due diligence – manage all aspects of the acquisition due diligence process including advisor selection, engagement letter and scope management, processing findings, managing appropriate mitigations, managing timelines
    • documentation – manage external adviser and negotiate legal documentation in relation to acquisitions
    • debt financing – work with the internal specialist debt teams to source debt financing for individual transactions
    • commercial negotiations – lead deal negotiations with the counterparties
  • maintain an active network of external partners such as brokers, investment peers, legal advisers, brokers, and consultants
  • provide market updates to internal stakeholders and external investors
  • opportunity to work across borders on pan European portfolios and on an ad hoc basis
  • contribute to hold / sell analyses for existing assets with market input on liquidity and pricing
  • manage asset divestment processes

 You will drive consistent and high-quality operational standards; foster best practices in acquiring assets with input and direction of the investment performance team. You will be responsible for the use of existing policies for acquiring assets and diligence best practice. You will be representing Macquarie Asset Management with key intermediaries, investors, competitors, and external partners as a thought leader in the industry whilst ensuring highest ethical standards in all of our dealings
