Here at Human Appeal, we have an exciting opportunity for a Global People & Culture (HR) Officer to join our team based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester (although the role will initially be home-based during Covid-19 restrictions). You will join us on a part-time basis, working 20 hours per week, as part of a fixed-term contract for up to 12 months, and in return you will receive a competitive salary of GBP22k per annum, pro rata.

Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.

As Global People & Culture (HR) Officer, the successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting all HR operations at Human Appeal's global Field Offices based in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. This will include promoting good HR practice in overseas offices, ensuring that all HR operations are compliant with Human Appeal policies and procedures, as well as providing support to the Field Office HR personnel, and contributing to the capacity-building of Human Appeal's Field Offices through recruitment.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Global People & Culture (HR) Officer:

- To recruit and select candidates of a high calibre for senior positions for Human Appeal's Field Offices

- To ensure that induction is implemented for new hires working in Human Appeal's Field Offices

- To implement Learning & Development and Safeguarding initiatives in line with best practice

- To support Employee Relations investigations, resolving or escalating as necessary

- To provide overall best practice governance and generalist HR expertise and advice

- To monitor overseas-based performance management policies, procedures and best practice

- To deliver international HR/Organisational Development projects in line with agreed SLA's and standards.

What we're looking for in our Global People & Culture (HR) Officer:

- Ideally degree-educated in Human Resources, or CIPD Level 3 qualified, or working towards a similar post-grad qualification

- Strong understanding and experience of Human Appeal's global context (Asia, Africa and Middle East)

- Excellent administrative skills

- Previous experience working in INGOs is desirable

- Previous experience working in global / international HR is desirable

- Highly organised and computer literate, with an ability to multitask and manage a busy workload

- Excellent, fluent communication skills in English are essential

- Additional languages pertaining to Human Appeal Field Offices, e.g., Arabic and Urdu, are desirable.
