Based in our West London HQ, the Junior Technical Operations Analyst role offers a training pathway into the broadcast operations of Warner Bros. Discovery;  one of the world’s leading media companies.

At Warner Bros. Discovery, you will be reporting to a Duty Operations Manager, will be part of a hybrid team of digital / linear operators/engineers, developing your skills as an Operations Analyst. You will be trained on how to monitor and maintain television distribution broadcast chains, as well as supporting an extensive suite of Live, VOD, OTT/Digital Systems, and client applications.

 

The junior position provides a route into a substantive 24/7 shift based role, working as part of a unified team, which will consist of members from multiple disciplines. 


Warner Bros. Discovery Platforms, Networks, Distribution & Digital Operations form a dynamic technology-focused team, capable of monitoring all linear and non-linear output, providing workarounds, offering technical solutions, as well as supporting our IT infrastructure. 

 

You will be expected to use your operational analytics and incident management skills to provide support for all issue areas, working with support teams/engineers for a swift resolution to any technical issues. You will also be expected to support and educate your team members about new processes, while independently keeping your technical know-how up to date.


Responsibilities
 

Overseeing both Linear and Digital content delivery, the role undertakes monitoring and incident management of Warner Bros. Discovery’s output across satellite, terrestrial and cloud platforms, to reach our global audience through multiple channels/platforms. 

 

Your role will require you to troubleshoot, diagnose, and triage technical issues originating from various teams across the business, using tools available to mitigate incidents, and/or escalate to relevant support teams to keep services up and running.

 

You will ensure incident management is being carried out, with stakeholder notifications sent out across the business, and in line with Service Level Agreements. 

 

Collaboration, effective communication, and documentation are expected for tasks such as onboarding new tools and processes into the team, with the support of a Senior Operations Analyst/Duty Operations Manager.


Provide timely incident follow ups to prevent a repetition of faults, improve future system availability, team response times, and ensure incidents have been properly handled/closed off.

 

Training

 

Additional to on-the-job familiarisation with Warner Bros. Discovery systems, you will receive training modules on core fundamentals in broadcast technologies and Digital OTT Workflows, to strengthen your skill set and experience in linear / digital broadcast systems

  • Video compression systems
  • Streaming and encoding for broadcast
  • Broadcast video fundamentals 
  • IP Networking fundamentals
  • Digital Broadcast and Distribution
  • Monitoring and routing of video / IP signals
  • Monitoring, routing and interpreting DVB standards
  • Pre / During / Post Live Events Monitoring Checks
  • Daily/Weekly Reporting
  • Digital OTT Metadata/Playback Workflow understanding to triage incidents

Full training on in-house software platforms responsible for delivering content to digital subscribers. Training and guidance on incident management, escalation, and resolution for broadcast issues.

 

Additional Preferred Skills

 

  • Previous experience in digital media. 
  • Knowledge and experience of AWS (or other cloud service providers)
  • Experience with remote and cloud-based workflows
  • Knowledge of IP transport streams
  • Experience with scripting languages
  • Familiar with ITIL and Agile process management
  • Previous experience in a live operational role in the media industry

Qualifications
 

  • Have a positive customer-oriented attitude, with solid verbal and written English communication skills
  • Excellent problem management skills,
  • Ability to triage incidents end-to-end, identify the issue area, and use the tools at hand to mitigate/escalate the incident. 
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and re-prioritise workload when necessary.
  • Computer/IT literate, confident knowledge of IT-based systems/applications. 
  • Interest in all aspects of television, radio, satellite, and IT technology
  • Ability to break big problems down into small sizes and solve them one piece at a time.
  • Be intellectually curious, looking for opportunities to expand your technical and personal skill-set.
  • Excited to work in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong aptitude for working, being successful in a virtual and culturally diverse team; working effectively through email/teleconferencing.
