Who are Lloyds Banking Group?

Lloyds Banking Group is the UK's leading digital franchise, with over 13 million active online customers across our three main brands - including Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Bank of Scotland and Scottish Widows - as well as the biggest mobile bank in the country.

Group Transformation is one of the Divisions which is leading the way through new ways of working to implement our strategy and react faster to market developments. Become part of our diverse team and you'll experience a rare opportunity to impact the lives of more than 26 million customers. We need people who can make this transformation a reality.

What Team does this sit within?

The Enterprise Architecture team plays a key role in helping the Group transform itself to meet new challenges with digitisation, competition and growing customer expectations. We seek to balance the immediate needs of the business with a broader strategy to build the bank of the future. We help drive a more responsive bank that puts customers first, handles cost and risk, and delivers shareholder value.

Following a clear set of principles which promote a positive and collaborative culture making this a diverse and energising place to work.

The Role

The ability to make and receive payments, account to account or using cards, as a standalone activity or as part of wider customer journeys is central to helping our customers and clients whilst keeping them and communities safe from financial crime is core to the Group's purpose. We're looking for a Lead Architect to join our Payments team.

You'd be building relationships and developing trust, providing thought leadership to our business and technology change delivery colleagues, owing the technology strategy for your area of focus and maintaining alignment with the wider Group strategies.

What would I do as Enterprise Architect?

This is where things get interesting...

  • You'll be working with end-to-end agile project teams to help influence the adoption of the architecture strategy balancing forces including risk, cost, time and customer.

  • You'll own this strategy and work with colleagues to agree the roadmap and technical approach

  • You'll collaborate with other members of the Architecture and Strategy team to help shape and deliver the wider strategy.

  • You'll own the implementation and adoption of your ideas helping cultivate strong teams to make this happen

  • Finally, you would present your proposals to diverse groups within the organisation and seek to influence their thinking and gain commitment.

What do we need to see from candidates who apply?

Essential

  • Experience in one or more of payments, fraud and financial crime prevention and authentication domains would be important which may, of course, be from a non-financial services background with a preference for people with payments experience

  • Fundamentally, Enterprise Architecture at Lloyds Banking Group is a consulting role, identifying opportunities to make a positive difference and influencing senior leaders and engineers to execute your strategies. You'll be a confident leader, passionate about architecture and making a difference

Desirable

  • You will be able to view challenges from different perspectives, create and drive strategies and solutions that are not only technically sound, but also include regulatory, commercial and organisational aspects when appropriate

  • You'll be a great communicator happy speaking to engineers and senior leaders alike and not afraid to use a whiteboard to share your ideas

  • You're keen to tackle problems and work collaboratively in teams recognising the complementary strengths of individuals

And your background?

  • You've worked in established organisations with large customer bases so have a good appreciation of the non-functional considerations and crafting systems accordingly

  • We'd expect experience of driving a change agenda and demonstrating strength and good judgement in leadership

  • We've love you to have experience with agile techniques and modern application software architectures

What will you get in return?

On top of our team ethos we're genuine about both equal opportunity and our colleagues representing the communities we serve - developing and advancing the best in our people through personal development, training, qualifications and upskilling on the job.

Together we make it possible!

Flexible working is at the heart of our strategy. We’re re-imagining where, when, and how our people work, with new approaches designed to meet the ever-changing needs of customers and colleagues. These include increasing our use of remote-working tools and technology, as well as placing less reliance on a 9-to-5 mindset. For many of our office-based colleagues, we work in hybrid ways which involves spending at least two days per week or 40% of their time at one of our office sites.
