Role: Medical Secretary
Location: Solihull
Salary: GBP11 - 12 per hour
Hours: Part time
We are working on behalf of client who is seeking to recruit an experienced Medical Secretary to join their team. This is an office-based role working part time. There is some flexibility around start and finish times between the hours of 8 - 6pm to suit the successful candidate, as long as they complete their contracted part time weekly hours - ideally up to 30 hours per week.
Role and responsibilities:
As a Medical Secretary you will be responsible for supporting the GPs and Practice Manager daily
Regularly liaise with other administration, reception and secretary s in the organisation to ensure an efficient and compliant administration service is provided
Responsible for promptly handling all incoming patient requests by phone, email and face to face relating to a variety of tasks such as prescriptions, medications, referrals, scans, results etc
Maintain accurate patient records relating to appointments, contact details and service provider updates
Liaise with private medical providers and insurance companies relating to patient treatment
Accurately type up GP patient referral letters
Identify areas for improvement to reduce risk, increase compliance and efficiency in processes and procedures
Ensure adherence and implementation of Governance and GDPR in all matters
Support on Reception when required handling incoming patient calls
General administrative tasks such as scanning patient documents
Skills and experience required:
Proven experience in a Medical or Legal Secretary role essential
Demonstrable experience in a busy administrative environment
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Strong administrative and data record keeping skills
Ability to handle confidential data
Clinical, medical or NHS knowledge or understanding advantageous
