Multi-location from one of our FSA Offices (Belfast, Cardiff, London or York), or home based in the UK. Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not overseas. Travel to York will be required on a regular basis and across the UK on an occasional basis, possibly with overnight stays.

About the job

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has an exciting opportunity for two Commercial Category Managers to join our supportive, inclusive professional team.

The FSA is a relatively small government department, but it carries out a huge amount of important work. In order to deliver our vast remit, we engage with a wide range of partners, spending over £80m each year on external contracts. These contracts enable us to carry out vital research and scientific projects, bring in external support to help our teams across the Agency, and generally ensure that the FSA is always in the best position possible to keep the nation’s food safe.

Our Commercial Category Managers are central to the delivery of the FSA’s Commercial Improvement Projects, supporting development of our Strategies, Plans and Pipelines. The role can be incredibly varied as you lead on complex tender exercises, from early stages through to completion. You will draft contracts, manage negotiations and manage the redaction and publication of contracts.

The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1300 people. Having left the EU, we play a critical role in protecting public health and consumers’ wider interests in food across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
