We're looking for a Chef Engineer who is passionate about DevOps, improving processes, automation and providing the most reliable service to our consumers. You'll have a strong sense of ownership and integrity and enjoy working with Engineering teams. You'll continually challenge, empower, mentor, and support your team, providing effective and efficient support for the comprehensive and complex Chef toolset across multiple platforms. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a strong team supporting the largest Digital bank in the UK; utilising cutting edge tooling and technologies as the Bank embarks on a journey toward Cloud computing.

Your key accountabilities will include;

  • Working within Software Development and Deployment Tools team supporting Chef, used within areas of Lloyds Banking Group such as Branches and Azure Private Cloud.

  • Responsible for monitoring the services and providing technical expertise to investigate and resolve incidents.

  • Providing continuous improvement and automation within the team that removes repetition and manual tasks.

  • Working collaboratively to reduce technical debt and mitigate operational risk.

  • Support in driving the usage of Chef within LBG and provide key input into building our capabilities as more applications' transition to using Chef.

About you;

Strong technical skills based around the following technologies:

  • Chef Infra and Chef Automate Administration via Command Line

  • Chef Infra and Chef Automate Server Administration Skills

  • Chef Infra and Chef Automate Server Upgrade Experience

  • Chef Cookbook and Inspec Profile Support

  • LINUX and Windows.

  • Scripting using bash, shell, ruby.

  • Experience with Jenkins and GitHub.

  • Service mindset acquired through supporting critical applications.

  • Experience supporting applications in a public cloud environment such as GCP, AWS would be an advantage.

  • A passion to automate everything, everywhere!

  • Strong problem-solving abilities in a complex multi-tier technical environment
