What You Will Achieve

You will be part of a growing team of analytical scientists supporting the Pfizer Global Supply Organisation with troubleshooting investigations, product understanding and proactive material source changes by application of advanced analytical techniques. Through your comprehensive technical knowledge of principles, concepts and theories in analytical science, you will work towards advancing new concepts and methodologies. As a Senior Scientist, you will be at the centre of our operations and you'll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. With your deep knowledge in analytical sciences, you will be an active team member who influences at the project team level. You will contribute to the global nitrosamines program through development and validation of LC-HRMS methods as well as screening of drug product stability samples and excipients to support remediation efforts. Additionally, there will be a need to perform further qualitative and quantitative analyses of organic, inorganic, or biological compounds to determine their chemical attributes and understand impact on product performance to resolve complex manufacturing investigations. You will be using your scientific judgment to adapt standard methods and techniques by applying prior work experience and consulting others. Your ability to plan will help in preparing short-term work activities on projects. Your creativity in developing novel processes and new ideas will be used frequently.   • Working in a fast-paced environment and growing team responding to business needs on critical global nitrosamines program, including LC-HRMS method development / validation and stability testing.
  • Planning and delivering high quality analytical data packages to provide fundamental understanding of pharmaceutical materials for both proactive and reactive (troubleshooting) applications.
  • Application of creativity and innovation to select appropriate analytical techniques / instrumentation for characterisation of physical and chemical properties of a wide range of pharmaceutical materials (API's, excipients, drug products and packaging materials).
  • Selection of appropriate presentation techniques for highly complex analytical datasets in order to deliver concise headline results to stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Determination of chemical profiles of pharmaceutical materials to enable understanding of composition and impurities, including development of appropriate sample preparation methods.
  • Providing understanding of materials through delivery of a broad range of spectroscopic methods with full data interpretation, particularly in the area of mass and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
  • Identification, and where required quantification, of unknown organic impurities through successful application of chromatography and mass spectroscopy to complete structural elucidation.
  • Execution of accelerated drug product stability studies, including trending of impurities and dissolution data for a range of drug product formulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Proven experience including the application of analytical methods to provide understanding of organic and/or elemental impurities of pharmaceutical products.
  • Proven ability in the identification of unknowns using structural elucidation methods (LC-MS and/or GC-MS)
  • Knowledge of the workings of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations (drug product formulation and/or API synthesis)
  • Pro-active and has a creative, entrepreneurial attitude, with appetite to work in fast paced environment and execute key priorities to timelines
