Job Title: Claims Handler - Personal Injury
Target Start Date: October 2022
Contract Type: Permanent, flexible working options
Salary: £22,000 - £30,000 depending on experience

Claims Handler - Personal Injury - An opportunity has arisen to join the Motor Personal Injury Team as a Claims Handler in our Gloucester office. Whilst completing your Level 6 Senior Insurance Professional Apprenticeship and securing your Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) qualification you will train to become a Personal Injury Claims Handler and manage a portfolio of motor claims involving injury to third parties with full ownership of each claim from notification to settlement. Please note: Your ACII qualification will be completed over a period of 3 years.

We are looking for applicants who have an inquisitive nature with the curiosity and drive to successfully investigate and negotiate claims, whilst delivering outstanding customer service. Experience of Motor or Personal Injury claims is not essential since training and coaching will be provided

Here are some of the accountabilities of the Personal Injury Negotiator role: 

  • Be responsible for handling a number of allocated claims from initial customer contact through to settlement with values up to £100,000.
  • Investigate and negotiate claims raised by third parties and/or their representatives in accordance with company policies and regulations.
  • To handle claims proactively and effectively, protecting claims costs with an emphasis on Third Party claims management, including injury, credit hire and repairs.
  • Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly to ensure claims fall within the policy cover and our legal liabilities.
  • Maintain claim spend to accurately reflect the Company's true liabilities on each claim.
  • Provide all customers, internal and external with excellent customer service.
  • Take ownership of complaints, record details accurately and resolve in line with company policy.
  • To identify and investigate potentially fraudulent claims

To be a successful Claims Handler - Personal Injury you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A wealth of experience within customer service with excellent negotiation skills
  • A curious mind-set with a passion to investigate and resolve complex claims
  • Strong knowledge of insurance policies and procedures is advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and listening
  • Previous stakeholder management experience across both internal and external
  • The ability to absorb and interpret information effectively
  • The ability to work proactively with strong organisation and prioritisation skills
  • A competent and logical decision maker
  • A desire to continue with professional development including qualifications
