Bid & Contracts Manager – EV infrastructure

Join our Green Investment Group as a highly motivated Bid & Contracts Manager to help the Group support the transition to a low carbon, sustainable global economy. This is a pan-European role which is London-based, but with the option to be based in another location with frequent travel to London. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for managing bids and the necessary contractual arrangements for European electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and other EV opportunities that arise.

As a key member of the commercial team, you will be a bidding and contract management expert, liaising with the technical team where required, to deliver commercially successful EV projects, tenders and investment proposals; including taking the lead in arranging construction and operational contracts for EV based projects.

In your role as Bid & Contracts Manager, you will interface with wider internal teams, partners, suppliers and consultancies and will be expected to be an ambassador for the business during any external engagement. You will own the bidding process and provide contractual and commercial advice on the deal structure whilst always ensuring documentary controls are adhered to.

Your primary responsibilities will involve supporting the business development and contracting process through the creation and management of bid proposals, preparing and negotiating contracts to support new partnerships, identifying and mitigating commercial and project risks as part of the project investment case and finalising contracts where required (EPC, O&M, asset management and construction management). In addition to this, you will work closely with the Engineering and Operations teams to ensure effective management of contracts once signed, including the EPC, construction management and service contracts with the customer. You will resolve any commercial issues including variations, claims and payments whilst setting up governance and operating structures to manage the contracts in operation.

This role will see you optimising contract outcomes through the finalising of contracts with, and management of our supply chain partners and our customers through close liaison with the commercial and technical teams.

For success in this role, you will have significant experience of working in a related field including management of specifications, tender management, EPC and O&M management. You will ideally have experience of the JCT/NEC suite of standard form contracts. Experience in EV is desired however, experience in solar, behind the meter electrical installations, battery storage, EPC contracting, M&E or other related fields are also welcome. You will also possess prior experience in the management of contracts and have demonstrable understanding of EV technology, a successful track record leading and managing complex projects, including working alongside JV partners in multiple countries or across different cultures to achieve successful outcomes. Lastly, you’ll have experience with contract, commercial and technical risk management, excellent networking and communication skills, and strong analytical, report writing and presentation skills. Experience of energy performance contracts is also considered a plus.

Ideally, you will have experience of working in European markets and associated language skills are highly regarded.

Transfer within EV Business

We anticipate that in 2022 your employment may transfer to the company which is being incorporated to house GIG’s European EV Platform, along with other employees of the Employer.
