Chief Operations Office

Inmarsat’s Chief Operations Office (COO) plays a vital role managing the services that keep our business running and delivering to our customers. COO consists of 9 functions including: Satellite Operations, Network Operations, Service Assurance, Service Delivery Aviation and Customer Assurance, Service Delivery and Supply Chain, Project Management Office, Global Cyber Security and Group IT

Job Description

As part of our broader Digital Workspace plans, Inmarsat is adopting many M365 workloads ranging from Cyber Security capabilities to all the communication and collaboration features. This includes extensive use of Microsoft Teams, and the next phase of our Microsoft Teams journey is to extend its functionality to include PSTN calling which will replace existing on-premises telephony systems. We are looking for a UCC consultant to drive technical delivery of this effort.
Inmarsat currently has just over 35 sites globally, with site user counts ranging from a dozen up to 1000 with a total global user count of just over 2000. Historically each site has used its own on-premises telephony/call manager solution with local site contacts responsible for maintenance, support and dealing with in country telecommunication providers.
All employees currently use Teams for internal chat/collaboration, our plan is to extend Teams functionality to include PSTN capabilities along with related features such as Call Queuing, Auto Attendant etc to all sites by the end of Q1 2023. This will include porting numbers in certain sites.
We are already engaged with different partners to assist with the deployment and to provide SIP connectivity across all our global sites and are concluding a 5-site pilot effort. We are now looking for an experienced UCC consultant to own and drive technical delivery of the larger global deployment.

Responsibilities

  • You will own the technical delivery of deploying Teams PSTN across the 35 sites globally, including our London HQ site with 1000 users
  • You will be responsible for directing our partners as it pertains to engineering and deployment activities, as well as liaising with on site business contacts to get whatever information is required to enable the new service.
  • Dealing with other internal and/or external stakeholders may also be required on occasion to drive delivery – i.e, internal Finance teams to help agree new centralising billing cadence, or in country telecommunication providers to assist with processes around number porting. Occasional extended hours/out of hours working will be required given the disparate timezones.
  • You will be working with an experienced Project Manager, Change and Communications Manager along with our Voice Product Owner along with our Head of Digital Workspace who is sponsoring the initiative. Updating each of these stakeholders and working collaboratively is required.
  • Ensuring best practise is followed from both technical and non-technical perspectives – technical design and delivery is undertaken with best practises in mind, along with non-technical elements such as documentation and user impact is considered and undertaken by delivery resources.
  • While not a priority in the short term, in 2023 Inmarsat will be looking to modernise our Contact Centre capability including integration with CRM systems so any experience in this area will be looked upon favourably

Qualifications

  • You will have deep technical knowledge of corporate telephony/voice/PBX systems and related concepts such as call queuing/attendant features/codecs/dial plans/numbering & porting/signalling
  • You will have understanding of related infrastructure capabilities including Networking concepts,
  • You will be familiar with Office 365 and specifically, Microsoft Teams Enterprise Voice (PSTN) including recently announced and planned capabilities Inmarsat can take advantage off
  • You will have experience with enabling and/or migrating voice services to Microsoft Teams Enterprise Voice (PSTN)
  • You will have excellent communication skills, be able to communicate to non-technical and technical colleagues as well as senior leadership when required

Additional Information

You must be eligible to work in this location advertised.
