Job Details

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Planner to join our London & East construction business. With offices in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, and Chelmsford (Essex), we deliver projects across multiple sectors within north London, the northern home counties and East Anglia. This will be a hybrid role with a mix of remote and office based working. Candidates should ideally be able to deliver good quality programmes and associated work for projects during the preconstruction or on site stages.

As an Assistant Planner at Willmott Dixon you will complete the planning process with a high degree of commercial acumen and skill whilst producing tender plans and programmes that are clear and understandable. In doing so you will be preparing a tender planning report that highlights for the bid team key planning and programming elements of the project and also be responsible for the preparation of informed and auditable tender programmes that utilise known outputs and sequences.

The key responsibilities:

  • Providing plans and methodologies with a high degree of commercial acumen at pre-qualification stage and submit/present to clients and client representatives
  • Completing site visits and reports to ascertain conditions and constraints that need to be taken into account.
  • Producing tender plans and programmes that are clear and understandable and demonstrate that a thorough and robust approach to planning has been adopted
  • Having an approach to tender planning that actively seeks, during preparation, opportunities for innovation and value engineering that is shared with the tender bid team
  • Producing programme commentaries and planning method statements that articulate a comprehensive understanding of the way Willmott Dixon intend to approach and execute the project
  • Taking an active role in preparing and delivering project presentations at all required stages of procurement
  • Conducting their role in a way which is consistent with the company's sustainability objectives
  • Constantly reinforcing and delivering our customer first ethic

Essential and Desirable Criteria

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in construction planning either in procurement or on site
  • Experience in re-measurement, cost control and be able to read and accurately interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Appropriate CSCS card
  • Valid driving licence

Desirable Criteria

  • Construction related degree
  • Use of a project management planning software Microsoft or Asta
