Job Details

Overview

For more than 30 years, Eurosport has been delivering quality live content, connecting fans and athletes around the sports they love - from grand slam tennis tournaments, to cycling events such as the Tour de France, right through to the Olympic Games.

Following the acquisition by Discovery, the business is now re-energising its digital platforms to provide audiences in more than 50 countries, across multiple languages, with authentic, premium and innovative content. This is focused around the Eurosport Player and Discovery+ that gives customers unparalleled access to sports content. Having secured the exclusive European broadcast rights for the Olympics until 2024, the upcoming deal with BT Sport and the merger with Warner Brothers, there's no better time to join the Eurosport team in this incredibly exciting time of rapid growth and innovation!

The Live Graphics Operator will be motivated and forward-planning using their experience of Viz and working closely with the Producers and Graphics Designers to fulfil the on-air graphics needs of our productions. The successful candidate would be responsible for operating, building and updating all on-air graphics templates for sports content as well as ensuring high standards across the freelance pool of operators.

Responsibilities

The Live Graphics Operator will be looking ahead at the productions in our London production hub and liaising with the local producers and graphic designers in Paris to ensure that all the on-air graphics templates are built in advance of the production.

These templates will then be loaded onto the Viz Trio machines in the relevant gallery, checked for quality and functionality then specific pages built around the needs of the production with information from the production team. The pages will be organised and documented for quick and easy recall during the show by yourself or by another operator. This is where some sport knowledge will help (especially snooker, tennis, cycling, superbikes, olympics) but not essential.

Not all graphics have a Viz template so some may need editing within Photoshop. Also some Photoshop work will be required to edit images of the athletes, for example removing a background.

Designing best practice for managing graphics storage resources by clearing the machines of out-of-date templates, pages, trio show files and images. Look at ways to optimise operational workflows and systems by collaborating with engineering and technical teams to deliver systems upgrades and improvements.

Training freelancers and documenting the operation of Viz will improve standards across the board and so is vital to the role. Brand awareness and consistency are key to achieving this.

Creative thinking by suggesting achievable new features and potentially testing them in Viz Artist with the technical team will be a huge bonus and really elevate production values.

We are a small team so a high level of responsibility for the graphics will be required. Forward planning and communication is key to the success of this role ensuring the highest quality production for our viewers.

  • Must have experience of working in a live studio environment
  • Knowledge of VizRT and Adobe Photoshop

  • Incredible attention to detail and typography skills

  • Passion for and knowledge of sport a bonus
  • Flexible, organised and punctual

Must have legal right to work in the UK. The role will be based in Chiswick and involves some weekend work, some unsociable hours and potentially onsite travel.
