Job Title: Scrum Master

Location: Warton. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

Salary: Up to £54,098 depending on experience and skills

What you'll be doing:

  • Working closely with product owners and other stakeholders to help them better understand their requirements and help the product owner defines and maintains a well refined product backlog
  • Removing impediments so the development team can focus on the work at hand; or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to help them
  • Facilitating the team achieving value with the shortest sustainable lead time
  • Assessing the Scrum maturity of the team/organisation, and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organisation
  • Ensuring that the Agile process does not impede development team progress whilst also proactively continuously improve the team and Agile communities
  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving


Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • PSM1/CSM or internal equivalent and more than a 2-day Scrum Master
  • Proven ability to use toolsets such as the Atlassian suite and appropriate metrics
  • Experience of using Lean/Agile techniques
  • Strong communicator at all levels of the business, improving transparency, and radiating information alongside gathering to support continuous improvement
Desirable:

  • Experience Scrum Mastering a complex / hybrid team and/or using Agile in non-software environments
  • Agile scaling qualifications e.g. SAFe or S@S

The Air Project Management Team:

Following the positive announcement at the Farnborough 2022 Air show, the FCAS programme is a challenging but rewarding environment implementing Agile on a large non software centric program which the at the forefront of developing the next generation aircraft.

Within BAE Systems, a Scrum Master is not a manager or technical team lead, but is an influential leader and coach who manages by servant leadership and does not do direct command and control management.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work within a fast-paced environment with exposure to a variety of projects in the FCAS arena. You will have hands on experience influencing multiple stakeholders and interacting confidently with senior management to support teams responsible for the delivery of large, high value, technically complex and strategically important programmes.
