Job Details

The Infrastructure and Cloud team is part of Content Technology and Innovation at Sky, responsible for the support, planning and development of our Production Platforms that host our content production and delivery applications. As part of our ongoing strategy we are transforming the way that we deliver and require a Senior Cloud Developer at this exciting time on our journey.

As a Senior Cloud Developer - Infrastructure and Cloud, your role is to provide Cloud Development Capability to the CBP department, this is an individual contributor role.


What you'll do:

* Be a Developer focusing on Cloud Platforms
* Use DevOps/Agile methodology as the core philosophy for the software development/delivery
* Work with Cloud Product Management, Principal Cloud Developers, platform verticals and colleagues - understanding the business needs and translating them into requirements
* Develop requirements specifications with minimal guidance based on standard approaches
* Be a technical role-model to team-mates developing a collaborative approach to delivery of departmental and company goals.


What you'll bring:

* Agile software delivery process including breaking down work into modular tasks, updating/tracking task status/work log entries for sprint management.
* Be an expert in at least one software language - C, C++, Node.js, Python, Rust, Go or other appropriate language.
* Be expert in developing for a major Cloud Platform - AWS, GCP or Azure.
* Understand the patterns that dictate the appropriate decision for Product Delivery location.
* Concourse (automated builds, automated unit test case) and Ansible (auto deployment using zero down time application deployment techniques) or experience of another CI/CD tool.
* Good knowledge of Infrastructure Platforms - Operating Systems, Networking, Storage and Database technologies.
* The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels with great verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate at both a technical and non-technical level
