This is a great opportunity to deliver talent and succession planning and lead on development interventions in a business area. You will be responsible for both BAU activity and future focused projects to drive the business forward in the areas you support in line with the capability and development plans in place. This role will sit within the Organisational Effectiveness & Development team and be tasked by the Head of Leadership & Talent into the business to ensure we keep aligned with best practices.

Successful Candidates will:

  • Understand the business and fully identify capability gaps now and in the future and devise cost effective talent strategies to support these

  • Develop a full set of functional talent data analytics to support all activity

  • All activity to be aligned with our Strategic Workforce Plan actions where appropriate

  • Understand the business requirements and the capability plan to deliver

  • Devise and implement specific development opportunities and programmes that will support, develop and deepen the functions ability to perform

  • Ensure that there is a strong uptake and utilisation across the business of job rotations, talent moves, stretch assignments, feedback opportunities, use of a coach or mentor and appropriate use of course, programmes or blended learning activities

  • With support from Head of Leadership & Talent ensure that personal development action plans are agreed and are put in operation for identified high potentials/emerging future leaders

  • Manage succession plans for all leadership and critical roles

  • Potential opportunity to coach the functional leaders across the function to be role models for their teams, identifying opportunities for them to role model positive behaviours, suggesting actions and approaches

  • Connection and support offered to large company wide programmes

  • Conduct regular and ongoing external benchmarking to understand best practice

  • Participate in discussions and negotiations with the Trade Unions (TUs) as required, and build the necessary relationships with local TU representatives

Candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:

  • Leadership Development experience

  • Talent Development experience

  • Experience of complex people projects and generating outputs

  • Coaching

  • Change Management

  • Experience of launching large scale change / programmes to an organisation

  • TNA/Instructional Programme Design

  • A clear stand out skill in keeping abreast of current trends in leadership development

  • Creative ability to translate requirements into meaningful materials and output

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role and be willing and able to travel within the UK and overseas as required once restrictions are lifted.
