SALARY: £61,641 - £68,490

LOCATION(S): Bristol or Edinburgh

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days a week) in either our Bristol or Edinburgh office.

About this opportunity

We have a new opportunity to join the GFS Risk & Control team and support the activities of the Business Resilience and Security Office (BRSO), to co-ordinate and deliver a broad range of activities that focus on how Finance as a function mitigates overall Group Finance Risk specifically relating to security risk exposure.

As a Risk & Control Manager, you'll focus on the delivery of BRSO Security related activities, including vulnerability management, access, monitoring, physical and people security standards, and be part of a team of experts who support related risk management activities across Group Finance. In this role you'll help embed key controls and governance, and help to build a function that focuses on risk and control at its heart.

You'll have a great opportunity to grow and develop your risk leadership skills, particularly in the areas of resilience and security, engaging with a broad range of customers across Group Finance, and beyond.

Our Finance teams sit at the heart of the organisation, and Group Finance Support (GFS), is a key function within the Finance community. We’re a team of 400 colleagues, with responsibilities including financial and regulatory reporting and control, people and culture initiatives and strategy implementation.

As a Risk & Control Manager, your responsibilities will include:
  • Play a key role in the ongoing embedding security risk management awareness and associated controls operating effectiveness across Group Finance
  • Delivery of a range of Risk and Control reviews under 1RCSA (the Group’s Risk Management system)
  • Oversee a range of initiatives designed to reduce Group Finance Security risk exposure and respond to specific weaknesses and events
  • Provide guidance on interpretation and implementation of Group Security Policy, Standards and Controls
  • Engage closely with various teams in the Chief Security Office about Group Finance Security
  • Lead the Finance Security Community of business risk partners and specialist stakeholders to develop the maturity of the Finance Security Environment
  • Engage and embed Operational Improvement activities as the BRSO brings together activities from multiple sources and seeks to deliver these in an effective and efficient way

About you:

We're looking for a Risk professional with an understanding of Risk Compliance with experience in the field or, alternatively, having gained expertise through experience in a related function.

You'll also need to have/be:

  • A passion for understanding risk and control, and a desire to support the Business in enhancing their understanding of Risk and improving Control effectiveness.
  • Comfortable in working in a fast paced & changing environment, able to support delivery of solutions to inbound change impacting the team
  • An understanding of relevant business systems, along with practical understanding of financial systems and processes
  • The ability to provide line management support to Risk SMEs
  • A curious mind with the ability to explore and make improvement recommendations where appropriate.
  • Experience of minimising operational risks using sound judgement to determine where issues require escalation
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with both stakeholders, and business partners to support the provision of quality and timely information and analysis
