About the team

If you think all banks are the same, you’d be wrong. We’re an innovative, fast-changing business that’s shaping finance as a force for good. A bank that’s empowering its people to innovate, explore possibilities and grow with purpose.

We are looking for a Senior Solutions Architect to join our People Platform team at Lloyds Banking Group; a team in place to combine the best of colleague centricity, product obsession and agile delivery across our People Technology landscape. Our team is focussed on transforming the experiences throughout the end-to-end colleague lifecycle enabled by technology.

You will be at the heart of designing our solutions in a way that unlocks and creates opportunities to digitise and deliver excellent colleague journeys and business outcomes, as well as meeting the Group’s strategic goals to simplify and redefine the technology landscape.

Purpose of the role
Our People Platform is structured into Labs, each focussed on end-to-end colleague journeys - from ‘Attract, Activate & Grow’ through ‘Thrive’ and ‘Succeed’. These are underpinned by enterprise technologies and business partnerships recognised as best in class across the People/HR systems domain.

We need a Senior Solution Architect who will have the opportunity to play a critical role in designing solutions that can provide continuous flow of value to our colleagues, and will be responsible for:
  • collaborating with Product Owners, Platform Leads, Enterprise Architects & Engineers to create the architectural runway for our Platform teams.
  • leading on the discovery and analysis of technology options and the delivery of end-to-end solution designs, using relevant architectural building blocks that enable frequent incremental value delivery for colleagues.
  • identifying and managing technical design risks and issues, driving remediation and resolution through architectural or agile practises.
  • supporting Product Owners and Platform Leads in identifying, articulating and impact assessing software and infrastructure currency risks or issues, offering options and recommendations on action planning enabling continuous ever-greening of our technology landscape.
  • help develop our passion to promote the architecture subject area through mentoring coaching and participation in Agile ceremonies. Senior Solution Architects will have line manager responsibilities, so the ability to performance-manage and get the best out of your team will be key.

What we need from you?

We need a leader in Solution Architecture who understands the challenges of modern architecture. You will build a compelling strategic vision and will understand a wide array of technology implications including people and process, bringing this to your comprehensive view of design.

You'll ideally have previous career experience in software or infrastructure engineering and will be well placed to define and sell your vision for Engineers, Architects, and Product Owners alike.

You must be a keen and comfortable communicator who is happy working with a wide range of technical and non-technical colleagues. You would be able to produce high quality documentation tailored to the audience which would include senior stakeholders. As a role that can require demanding delivery timeframes, you will need to be self-organised and be able to proactively prioritise your time.

Essential skills & main accountabilities
  • Has experienced working in multi-disciplinary Product, Platform and/or Feature teams.
  • Has established systems engineering or solution architecture experience and appreciation of software engineering methods such as Behaviour and Test-Driven Development.
  • Understands the external market including how and where third-party products could be appropriate, knowledge of technology evaluation processes and best practise.
  • Has established experiences partnering with other collaborators such as Enterprise, Security, Business, Data and Infrastructure architects to create customer value and address business problems.
  • Holds proficient experience in leading activities associated with Architectural Governance, Risk Management or Compliance processes.
  • We also need to see specialisation in the type of technology baseline that we use. So detailed knowledge of one or more of our enterprise class SaaS solutions - specifically Workday, ServiceNow, Beeline ad the Microsoft M365 and Viva products - would be a bonus.
