About us

SFG20 provides a web-based software platform to make building maintenance schedules available to service engineers in the field as well as to design engineers. Over 800 organisations subscribe to SFG20, including museums, libraries, councils, retailers, the NHS and manufacturers.

The SFG20 platform contains approximately 1400 maintenance schedules for hundreds of different asset types and systems. The platform can be accessed through a mobile application and its API allows integration with Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) and other third-party software providers.

SFG20 has a dominant market position in building maintenance instructions, maintenance scheduling and costing. SFG20 has ambitious plans to continue to grow revenue by 40% per annum over the next three years.

The property and construction markets in the UK and around the world are changing. Data regarding assets is now starting to move through the Design, Build and Operate phases of a building. The Smart Building initiative is revolutionising energy consumption and maintenance.

SFG20 plans to be at the heart of this new world, and the Software Developer role is central to achieving that objective.

About the role

This is your opportunity to join a fast moving, forward looking, and high-profile agile development team tasked with building and maintaining Facilities-iQ – our powerful and industry leading buildings management toolset. Facilities-iQ is integral to meeting the ‘golden thread’ legislation implemented after the Grenfell Tower tragedy. Your efforts will have a direct impact on keeping lives safe and in helping to keep those tasked with overseeing building maintenance aligned with legislation.

You’ll have access to training and personal development resources in order to keep pace with our technology stack.

You will develop features for our systems and take responsibility for selecting appropriate tickets from the product backlog in conjunction with the Product Owner, estimating their complexity and delivering the required software development tasks. You will strive for quality in your work product and offer your expertise and advice to other team members.

You will be a key part of the software development process, taking responsibility for task estimations and ensuring the stories you discuss are properly refined and groomed. You will have an influence over the choices made for implementing solutions and you will participate as a code reviewer.

We will work with you to understand the areas of your skill set you are interested in developing and will mentor, coach and arrange for appropriate training to meet your career aspirations. We will try to ensure that you have time to practice and develop the skills you identify as important, either on core projects or as personal development efforts.
