Job Details

At La Fosse Academy, we find, train and place the tech superstars of tomorrow, bringing high-quality, diverse talent to the workplace.

Made up of 9 weeks of expert training, followed by a potential 2-year tech placement with one of our leading clients, La Fosse Academy allows you to kick-start your career in tech.

We offer a comprehensive support package, compensation and an ongoing learning environment that allows our associates to thrive from day one, throughout the course and during their 2-year work placement.

Who are we?

At La Fosse Academy, we develop the next generation of tech professionals; our curriculum is constantly updated with the most in-demand skills to prepare our talented cohorts for careers within leading businesses.

Tech careers are for everyone, and we want to ensure the course is accessible to people from any background, so our Academy is at no upfront cost for associates. One of the biggest talent challenges within the tech industry is the lack of diversity, and we’re actively tackling that by helping more women, career changers and returners to work enter the tech industry. Our current associates are 45% female, 65% from an ethnic minority background, 85% from lower- or middle-income families, and 45% are career changers. We aim to become the world’s first tech academy to reach 50:50 gender parity in our associates.

What is it?

The Academy programme lasts 2.5 years and is a kick-start to your tech career. It comprises 9 weeks of expert, live-taught training and a potential 2-year commercial placement. Our curriculum teaches various tech skills, tools, and concepts, giving you a broad knowledge base to start your tech career.

This course is designed to equip you with a wide range of technical and business-based skills, ensuring you are fully prepared to seize the myriad of opportunities that a career in technology can offer!

You could go on to work in various job roles, including Business Analysts, Data Analysts, Project Managers, Software Engineers and Developers with employers such as Money Corp, Teenage Cancer Trust, Kingfisher and Ocado.

During your training, you’ll learn the core skills and ways of working across the tech industry and focus on HTML/CSS, JavaScript, React, and Python.

Why us?

We know we are not the only tech training programme out there, so why should you join us? The answer is simple:

We are constantly updating our training to ensure you gain the skills that are most in demand in the market. Combine this with the interpersonal skills and business knowledge we provide, and you will be at your most employable by the end of the 12 weeks.

We provide a package of support once your training is complete. In addition to your monthly 121s, career coaching and an ongoing learning curriculum, once you’re on your placement, we also provide:

  • Opportunities to earn an industry recognised qualification
  • Mental health support (including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
  • Mentoring sessions with business leaders
  • The chance to become a mentor yourself
  • Networking events to meet the leading companies in the tech sphere
  • Winter & Summer socials with other associates
  • A variety of communities for you to engage with, including Community Projects, Women in Tech and a Guest Speaker Series

La Fosse has been providing technical recruitment solutions for over 16 years, so we know the employment market and what employers are looking for. This means we can provide the training and support you need in order to land your first career in the tech world and then stand by your side as your career continues to grow. From day one, you'll be part of the La Fosse community, with access to expert recruitment teams and our huge tech network.

Who are you?

You don’t need any specific experience to apply. We take people from all walks of life, degree backgrounds, and school/college leavers over 18. However, we will ask you to do some prep work before teaching begins, and you must pass a technical interview. So, some experience in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, or other programming languages would be beneficial but is by no means necessary. Most importantly, we are looking for someone to demonstrate their passion for starting a career in tech and their capability to pick up tech skills in their own time. Most importantly, be yourself and give it your all!

What's the promise?

You will need to treat the training programme as a full-time job – you will be expected to participate from 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday, whether in our London Victoria office or virtually. If you successfully gain a placement once the course has finished, this will also be a full-time role.

What's the package?

During the placement, you will receive a starting salary of £30,000 with a discretionary increase after one year and additional bonuses throughout your placement:

  • £1000 when you start your placement
  • £1500 at 18 months
  • £2500 when you complete the two years

We all know that a package isn't just numbers but also how we ensure you can bring your best self to work and feel supported throughout your journey. This is how we enable you to unlock your most genuine potential.

While we welcome applications from all prospective students regardless of background or lived experience, we particularly encourage women and career-movers to consider our Academy training programme. One of the biggest talent challenges within the tech industry is the lack of diversity, and we’re actively tackling that by helping more women and career changers to start their tech careers.

We are an equal opportunity employee. To help us impact diversity across the tech industry, we would like to ask for your demographic background at the application stage to ensure we have blended representation. This data is anonymised and will not be used for purposes other than tracking where our attraction strategies can be improved.

Company

At La Fosse Academy we find, train, and place the tech superstars of tomorrow bringing high-quality, diverse talent to the workplace.

Our vision is to create a world where the best talent, regardless of background, will build the tech of tomorrow.

La Fosse Academy is the technology training company tackling the two most critical issues facing the tech sector:
1. A huge skill shortage that slows business growth
2. A chronic lack of diversity in the tech sector

What makes us different?

The best talent - we only accept the top 2%
We thoroughly assess thousands of applicants, looking for individuals with the right balance of attitude and aptitude. Continual assessment ensures all our associates are passionate, driven and are prepared to build their futures and play a key role in the teams they join.

Diverse teams - democratising technology
The output of the tech industry already plays a key role in the lives of our entire population, but the workforce that creates it doesn't match. We want to change this. Wider perspectives and experiences create more innovative solutions to the problems of tomorrow. The diversity and inclusion of our programme participants is at the core of what we do.

Techniques over tools - skills for the future
We don't just train our students in the technologies and languages of today. We teach the right approaches and mindsets to solve the tech problems of tomorrow. By covering the fundamentals of development, our course prepares our associates to quickly adapt and excel in whatever comes next.

Ongoing support - people solve problems
We treat every student as an individual, mentoring associates both during and after their course and offering a range of wellbeing and pastoral services. Through this, we're creating a workforce of tomorrow that feels supported and empowered to solve the biggest problems and deliver the most ground-breaking solutions
