Job Title: Head of Communications, Air Sector

What you'll be doing:

  • Acting as the global communications lead for COO (Operations) Developing internal communication and engagement strategies to enhance the colleague experience and productivity within the COO
  • Partnering the COO leadership through periods of change and transformation, developing a strong narrative and looking for opportunities for win wins which help change to land well
  • Driving BAE Systems' reputation as an employer-of choice and instilling pride in our existing workforce through proactive storytelling across our channels and markets
  • Working with communications colleagues across BAE Systems to ensure the wider business understands the role of the COO team and the significance of their contribution in the context of the UK's overall combat air programmes, and internationally
  • Acting as a conduit into the external communications teams to proactively generate communications from the COO which support the commercial and reputation objectives of the Air Sector.
  • Working with the SLT to ensure the delivery of communication plans and activities designed to enhance colleague engagement and productivity across the Air Sector

Your skills and experiences:

  • Proven Internal Communications background
  • Ability to develop and articulate a clear communication strategy aligned with the organization's goals
  • Competent at leading tactical projects and delivering through various business and functional teams
  • Proven experience in leading, mentoring, and developing a communications team, ensuring collaboration and high performance
  • Exceptional writing skills to produce clear, concise, and error-free content for different channels
  • Having confidence and ability to effectively communicate in front of diverse audiences, including employees and senior level stakeholders
  • English qualifications - GCSEIdeally a degree (marketing, communications etc)

The Communications team:

Working within the COO (Chief Operating Office) gives you the opportunity to work at the centre of the business, collaborating with enthusiastic stakeholders that are supportive and driven.

The Head of Communications, who reports to the Director of Air Sector Internal Communications, is in charge of organizing and carrying out communications to assist the COO and to safeguard and improve the Company's Air Sector's reputation among all of its stakeholders, especially coworkers. In addition to closely collaborating with the External Communications Team to support and coordinate external communications and marketing initiatives, you will oversee the COO's internal communication strategy.
