Technical Clerk - Leeds

 

Murphy is currently recruiting for a Technical Clerk to join our award-winning Energy team in Leeds. Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Technical Clerk will ensure a high level and consistent approach to all inspection records, quality assurance, and technical delivery are achieved on construction projects. The Technical Clerk shall ensure all relevant documentation is in accordance with the approved Inspection Procedures, Statutory Regulations, Environmental Legislation and Company Practice and Procedures.

Murphy has designed, constructed, and commissioned projects for clients including National Grid, Cadent Gas, OPA, SGN, National Grid Ventures, on both transmission and distribution networks. Our projects include Compressor stations, Natural Gas and LNG Terminals, AGI’s, pipelines and diversions.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Handover of all Murphy / Client approved Quality Specifications and Procedures relevant to Inspection activities.  
  • Checking and inputting inspection and NDT reports, in accordance with the specific project requirements and following Murphy Quality Control Plans and Procedures.
  • Review and completion, where applicable, of all required documentation and obtaining all the necessary approvals and signatures.
  • Preparation / review of all, quality control documentation, standards, and specifications for handover to client. 
  • Liaising with the Client’s QA/QC representative and third parties during fabrication and installation to resolve any QA/QC related problems, and provide information on aspects of inspection procedures, inspection qualifications and inspection qualifications as necessary.
  • Verify compliance with inspection standards and fabrication drawings and ensure surveillance and inspection activities are provided for welding, as required, for suppliers' and subcontractors' operations.
  • Compiling of Inspection equipment registers and ensuring calibration certificates are in date where required.
  • Compile registers for all consumable materials used within the welding and coating process and ensuring certificates are handed over.
  • Compilation of Welding/Inspection logs, and bar charts related project activities 
  • Ensuring the timely completion of all spool control sheets and drawing issuing to the fabrication shop.

 

Who we are looking for:

  • Experience of working in Technical Clerk or Administrative support role.
  • Knowledge of operating office equipment and IT, e.g. telephone, computer with standard software, copier, printers etc. to access, input and verify information.
  • Literate and Numerate with proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other office applications.
  • Experience within the construction / civil engineering industry is desirable, but not essential.
