Celebrating ‘the outstanding achievements of women engineers throughout the world’, AmcoGiffen caught up with one of our newest female engineers, Kira Markham, who joined us earlier this year as a Senior Design Engineer.

Completing her Master’s Degree in Engineering Geology in 2004, and working across a number of industries, Kira brings over 10 years of engineering experience to our team, where she currently provides specialist geotechnical design support at the front end of our projects.

Balancing her work/family life Kira said, “Being an Engineer is a challenging and fulfilling profession. With the engineering skills shortage we’re facing now, both men and women should be encouraged to hone and build on the abilities that we need”.

Meeting with Network Rail in Scotland yesterday, we have been collaboratively celebrating International Women in Engineering day business wide, for engineers and engineering support alike.
