“I started off as a Croupier and have worked my way up to General Manager. I have worked shifts for over 30 years and have always had children whilst working in this business. I always found things easier with childcare when I was working nights, as I could always do the school runs, I would sleep while they were at school, the only time I needed child care outside of my partner was during any school holidays of which I would book some annual leave during these times. I always found it gave me more quality family time – I was always there when they came home from school which was an important time for them, I would be there for family dinners in the evening and even put them to bed before I went to work.

My body clock soon got used to working nights and would do it all over the same again, it is a great career for parents with children to balance the needs of both, I never envied my friends who worked 9am to 5pm in the day, they never had the quality time I had with my family, their working week was always stressful.
